You must always try your best to grow up your kids cultured. Underage drinking is not appropriate but if I had to I would let them drink wine or champagne. I would teach them to keep it around 3 glasses max. And hope they would keep away from beer, rums and other hard liquors.
Well unfortunately yes...I know many parents that did this when my boys were in school...Hell my neighbour was a police officer and his kid was drunk most weekends..they would hold New Years eve parties at their house and the teens were allowed to drink..
trisher69: Heck No! I don't promote under-age drinking at all!
Its again a question of trust...and you havent defined "underage"....here in ireland its 18,in France its 16....the states 21...dunno about Canada!!!!if you mean giving booze to a 13/14 15 year old then no....but if you mean showing trust in them as a young adult, and hoping that by doing that, they will learn to respect alcohol....well then it has to be yes....i would much rather my daughter found out with me that she cant handle 2 glasses of wine, rather than out and about, where i have no idea where she is.....
I would rather have my kids (if I had kids) drink at home then at a party and get killed on the way home. My dad always told me, if you want to drink, I will make one for you. My dad told me, if u go to a party and get drunk, stay there, IF you want to come home, call me and I will come get you. No questions asked. Sometimes I wonder if parents are parents to their kids, or are they their friend. Sad...

Bravo... Its important to teach kids the difference between social drinking ( having a beer or a glass of wine, with your dinner or at a party) and getting wasted to show off in-front your buddies ...
Of course not. The problem is what kid is going to have their parents buy alcohol for just them to drink. NO teen is going to drink alone. They will bring their friends and that's the problem.
Too many "cool" mom's and dad's buying booze to be in.
Ask the mom who is doing 18 months because she supplied booze and one of the kids drove and was hurt.
Ask the Stanford professor two years ago that lost his job, his career and had to do a short jail sentence for having a kegger for about 25 kids.
Mostly upper middle class to rich families supply booze to their kids; it never works out. It's illegal and the dumb parent can get into a lot of trouble.
