rohaan: I totally understand the human side of it, being kind and generous, etc... but we are talking about a subject that has been discussed in many forms of media, and the general consensus is that borrowing or loaning money from or to a friend is so not a good idea. My grandparents were the most loving, accepting people I ever knew. They had been close and confident friends with some people who had moved a distance away, but not extremely far. One day they got a call from them, and I remember my Grandfather saying, "Ok. Come over and I'll have it ready". When my Grandmother asked what the call was about, he told her they had asked to borrow $100.00 (That would be equal to about 1300.00 today.. an enormous amount of money back then). Even though the friendship was a truly "golden" one, that incident put a deep gash in what was probably the nicest family friendship in centuries. Although they were re-paid, it scarred everyone. Borrowing and lending is NOT GOOD.
Hi Rohaan ,The Loaning is a Part of Business and our Life in the world ,But we all have Diffrent Point of Views and experiences

Yah. I lend money to friends, and I'm not worried if it's not returned. If they return it, then I see it as a bonus. If it's of an unusually large amount, (usually for house deposits) then obviously there will be a repayment agreement drawn up.

About a year or so back I got a contact from an old neighbor. He found me on FB. He said "Buddy, I have something that belongs to you." Then he reminded me that back in 1978 I load him $75.00 to buy his high school senior ring because his parents couldn't afford it. I about fell out of my chair. I had completely forgotten, and of course I told him to keep it, but the idea that he remembered and was willing to pay it back was extra special I thought. Wow !!

Sorry for what Ali?
It depends on the amount of money.
Small money for every day’s things that does not count but if we are talking about borrowing-lending money for something different, then I would not borrow that money from a friend; I would look for it at the bank or with some of my brothers and no one else.
My friends do not have to have my financial burden on their shoulders.
