Love is divine,covers all faults,is also blind ...so your shortcomings ,appearance ,deeds ,status means nothing .

For me one needs to have time for the person we love, because with time you will share communication, thats the only way you will know all his / her virtues and flaws and learn to accept them. A relationship requires attention from both partners not just one of them, it is a team work.
So besides love, attraction, loyalty, respect, honesty and all of the things people have wrote in their comments, I add time/dedication to the loved one.

patchwork: The main thing in a relationship is TRUST, and HONESTY if you don't have that then it will never work.
If you trust him but he isn't honest what good is it to love him.
IMO, trust is earned. I don't trust people automatically. Been burned by men and women when I've done that.
