you have to believe however I think most irish fans are convincing themselves they will win the tournament..I have my feet firmly on the ground...I know Ireland are a poor team who play a dour game ..blanket defence no real playmaker or go getter at all..the midfield is a joke...andrews and whelan..who the hell are they? and st ledger as central defender thats an accident waiting to happen

Ah no I think that is a slight exaggeration, I really don't think there are too many who believe we will win the tournament but we can always dream, and with out our dreams we have nothing. I believe at the moment we are starved of any real talent in the squad but for a nation of our size I reckon we punch well above our weight.

We have been punching above our weight in every major tournament we have been in. It didn't stop us beating England in 1988 and Italy in 1994 though. We're not the only ones though. Upsets happen in big tournaments. I'm sure not many people thought The Danes would beat the Dutch either. You have to have hope.

The Ireland team of 90' and 94' was a class act...todays squad is poor in comparison....even the world cup of 2002 squad was better than todays
