I think it's good to not be completely alike. People who have opposite personality characteristics can complement each other--like an out-going, extroverted person with with someone who is more introverted and shy or quiet. I don't think it's good to have very dissimilar views on life and what is important, but it is also not good to be like twins. I don't want to be with someone exactly like me. That would be boring.

I didn't answer the pole because I believe they do and don't. We can see it all the time where the two people involved have different tastes and likes. But within those differences they are similar. For ex: two people like sports, one is into swimming and the other is into hockey. They have similar interests, but differ within those interests. I will admit that it is possible for two people to have very different interests all together, and that's fine. But I do not believe a relationship will last if all they have are differences in their interests. They need to connect on some level. Likewise, I don't think it would last if in everything they had the same likes and interests. People are so complex and so is their needs, desires, interests that opposites and similarities have a wide range of options to connect.

The right mix of similarities and opposites

Opposites initially attract like magnets and are drawn to each other with a quickness. Then the inevitable sets in and they are repelled from each other due to lack of lasting connectivity. Opposites don't have staying power in the relationship department. They're good for May to December romances and heated liaisons though! But only expect it to be temporal. As long as you know what you're getting yourself into it's all fine and dandy. Have fun!
