Conrad73: that Crocodile Hunter got killed by a Stingray!

I reckon that You'd die pretty quickly as well if You got a 14 cm stingray barb through Your heart!

A dangerous creature, as I said. Even when it doesn't seem.

justjim63: Hi Guzman It's not that bad here really! we have about 5 or 6 fatal shark attacks in a good year here, compare that to the millions of people that swim in the oceans around Australia, then You'll see that the risk is pretty small, Humans eat far more sharks here though! As for crocodiles they only eat European backpackers.

Yes, in the mediterranean there are sharks too and people swims without an appreciable risk of being eaten.

But I've read that proposal to kill sharks in Australia:

I think it's pointless. What I meant it's that australian seas have a lot of potentially dangerous species, still if someone kills the sharks.

The proposed shark cull was in response to an increase in shark attacks around the South West coast of Western Australia, this is only a small region of the state and doesn't involve the whole nation. The great majority of the population are firmly against any shark cull at all, it's just a knee jerk reaction to the latest attacks.thumbs up cheers

I don't know about cute, but they are an important part of the underwater balance. I am fascinated by sharks. I'd' love to fish for them, but I want to release them back.

Rashness belongs to youth; prudence to old age. (Marcus Tullius Cicero).

I must be too young to fear the squids, at least the squids I've seen until now.

No doubt, pools are safer. Not sure if in Missouri's lakes and rivers one can find an alligator or something alike.
