I predict Paul Ryan as VP. He's young and virile. No one would vote for the other guy who looks old and tired just like... What was his name?... Oh yeah, McCain.
.....biden has gotten bad press for 4 years......he ain't a bad dude....whereas ryan- a very mean, spiteful rich s.o.b.....too young ....too yuppie.....too idiotic....
It does not make any difference. They are all puppets of the global financial elite. The whole left/right circus is just a smoke and mirrrors show that is staged to distract the sheeple from what is really going on.

Hands down it's Ryan. He's bright, articulate, hard-working and just plain nice.
It is also the first sign of how Romney will assemble his executive team...by choosing people with working knowledge in the fields they will be managing. It's the first rule of any good CEO. Surround yourself with capable people and not clueless friends and bundlers.

Biden has become a loose cannon. You might should have added Hillary Clinton to the poll. Because Biden is standing in the doorway of the bus presently.

I was watching Ryan last night, have to say, bland & wooden even for an American... some say he's passionate but if that's what passes for passionate to some then I don't want to know them.
But I reckon with so much hate for Obama you could stand at the Republican conference, jingle your keys and shout "look at the shiny, shiny" to a rapture of applause.

Hillary will become president after Obama and Biden are assassinated in a faux terrorist strike.

You know, Rumpy...I spent many years in public relations where I often wrote speeches and then coached the person on making speeches. When I listened to Ryan's delivery the other night, all I could think of was that is was just about the best piece of work I've seen in my lifetime. He was very direct, sometimes funny, he never missed a step. He was the most relaxed of them all and held the entire audience's attention throughout the entire speech. He an Condi Rice, in my opinion, were the two best speakers of the entire convention.
Bland and wooden? Are you serious?
With that said - I would also admit that I was personally embarrassed and very unhappy with the remarks from Tim Pawlenty. It seemed to me that he not only offered nothing of substance in his remarks, but also felt his job was merely to belittle the president with terrible jokes that were unnecessary and unkind. It was like some awful slapstick comedy routine that wasn't even funny.

WhatUwish4: I have always been a fan of Churchill's oratory skills and I have quoted him on these boards more than once. I still think Ryan did an excellent job given the venue he was speaking at. Regarding the venue...I've read a few criticisms from the democrats about how Romney and Ryan didn't go into specific detail about how their plans would work, but the convention isn't seriously NOT about getting down to details.
It is not the house floor where you come to debate policy and break things into minute detail. It is more of a "positioning" event, where they attempt to broadly project who they are as candidates, where they stand on things, and what their administration would mean for America. Both party's convention's will have a difficult time with this since there is sooooo much disinformation out there. Each have a lot of misconceptions to overcome and a lot of clarifications to make. I don't envy either of them in that regard.
I liked it when Ryan said something about college graduates staring up at fading Obama posters in their childhood bedrooms.
Well, this is little problem for graduates whom do a real, hard course like engineering or medicine, instead of cop-out courses like media & social science.
If you're mediocre you shouldn't be going to University at all you should be working down a mine. This is what a real Conservative should of said.

Well it's certainly true that not everyone needs to go to college - but it's very important that they should have the opportunity and NOT be told where to go by the government or anyone else.
There may be more technical jobs available than other less specific jobs, particularly since that is the direction our wole world is headed. But the fact remains that as long as companies can't expand or continue to go overseas, there will be less jobs across the board - and certainly the salaries and benefits are less competitive.

The worst & the most dangerous thing about our economy is that our skills & education are completely unrelated to economic reality.
You know in Britain 10% of our students are foreign, yet 30% of students at Oxford and Cambridge are foreigners. This speaks volumes.
Somebody needs to tell the Western middle classes to either drop their ego or earn it.
I couldn't disagree with you more that companies need to go overseas, it's the flight of productive industries to the east that has rendered our economy a finance/retail/service-sector joke. Productive and creative industries are what we need, and we need them here. Not in Korea, not in China, right here.

I liked him too, especially how he compared what Obama hasn't done to what he and Romney will do.....a little sarcasam He has a strong voice that you want to listen to. That's a little scary because I remember Obama at the 2004 convention and his strong demanding voice. Back then it was powerful....now it's whine whine whine.

Nooo! I didn't say companies needed to go overseas! I totally disagree with that also! What I said was that AS LONG as companies continue to go overseas.....
We need to stop providing huge incentives for foreign students to come to our schools. AND we need to do away with letting colleges like Harvard accept foreign money in exchange for control of what is being taught (Saudi Arabia is now running Harvard's middle eastern studies thanks to a VERY large endowment). As long as we allow foreign interests to control our education, we are doomed.

Hi Monty.
The good news is that I truly believe Romney and Ryan are sincere and that they have the skills to deliver.
Romney, in particular, has no reason or need to run for president other than wanting to fix our country for his children and ours. He HAS his screw-you money, he doesn't need to further his career or gain power. Really, if you aren't in it for money or power, you have to be truly dedicated since it's probably the worst job in the world!

My mistake, and thank God it was as I was worried about you for a moment.
I'm torn on the issue of foreign students.
We either need to directly protect our education(block foreign students), so as to not train up foreigners whom when they go home will further down the line help smash American/British business.
Or, we do allow them to study but we don't allow them to go home afterwards, we void their degree unless they perform a set amount of years service in support of domestic industries.
I'd exempt humanitarian and cultural courses(non-competitive), such as medicine, from this for the greater good of Humanity.
And of course it's both treasonous and corrupt to allow foreign nations to direct any of your instituitions.

I think it would be perfectly reasonable for any country to extend offers, loans or any initiatives WITH simple requirements demanded in return. We don't loan money to consumers without getting something in writing. It makes no sense NOT to.

Apple wouldn't train Microsoft's workers and by the same logic America shouldn't train the Chinese. We need to be careful.
