Most people get inked to commemorate someone they loved that has died. That's why I got mine & it really helped me get over the loss cos the tat made me feel like my friend would always be with me & that I could never lose him again. The tat made him a permanent part of me, so it was a form of comfort. People who are inked should NOT be stereotyped. I never thought I'd ever get a tat & getting inked does NOT change who you really are. My tat shows that I loved my friend enough to make him a permanent part of me.
i love tatts and theres nothing wrong with them , and when i had mine done none of my friends had any. although i dont like those who get totally covered in them.

I feel the same way.I lost my son and have his name tattooed on my arm.
I don't have a tatoo, but I really think it's strange that 80 percent so far think it is stupid. First of all, it depends on the individual and their tatoo. Second of all, I bet you all know lots of women who you respect who secretly have tatoos under their clothes.

I dont have any myself, but tattooing is a practice thats as old as mankind...Its always been a form of self expression. I think tats are much like any art form. Well done is lovely to look at, badly done, no-one wants to see that. Live and let live eh
I have a couple of tattoos..I had my first one done at 55 and my 2nd one done at 56...Both are very special to me as is yours..The 2nd one is in memory of my late husband 01-08-10...
One of the most stunning Tats I ever saw was on a woman who had lost her breast to cancer. Instead of being ashamed, she had the most incredible roses complete with thorns tattooed all over the missing breast and all down that side of her body. She turned her mutilation into a work of art. By getting the tat, she was proclaiming her survival and making a statement about being a warrior ...I found it incredibly moving and tasteful in the extreme. It was a celebration of bravery and survival.

Well said Venus!!
I have had one done recently - it is personal to me and will only ever been seen by someone very special due to it's location

Actually, no. Most of the women I know are Christians, and I have no reason to think they would have any tattoos. On another site, I saw a pic of one woman I knew of that had a tattoo.
