Hi all,
Please Alow a contribution from a non US citizen, that I hope will create some reflection.
In the US, where possesion of firearms are legalized , the firearm-related death-rate per 100,000 population in one year is 10,2 i countries where there is a ban on firearms, the deathrate is sicnificantly lover. We can take Great Brittan as an example, where all kinds of firearms are banned. the deathrate is 0,25.
I live in Denmark. I'm 46yo - i have never seen a firearm in my life. I'm not worried for my kids when they are away from home.

More gun control laws? Hell, we can't even enforce the gun control laws we have on the books now. to say that stricter laws and bans on weapons would keep them out of the hands of criminals is complete rubbish. Banning weapons or requiring a national registry of gun ownership would only serve to make criminals of otherwise law abiding citizens. The black market is so flooded with guns now that it would take generations to even make a dent in the ease of unlawful ownership. We banned alcohol during prohibition and how well did that work? What about our laws against marijuana...how hard is it to get marijuana? I'll tell you how hard...my 12 year old could bring me some home from school any day of the week if he so decided and it would be far more potent than anything we had around when I was in college. Sticter laws and bans are only effective for one thing...helping the naive and the self serving sleep better at night.
Not more laws, less stupid idiots! I grew up with guns. Saw what dead animals were. Taught them. Not a toy, a tool. Problem is kids who never see that. They shoot up on video games and then hit re-set. Real life has no re-sets. People who never saw a gun, go out and buy one. No idea how to use it. I knew growing up, touch dad's guns and get what for!! Then there are the macho types who think they are cool to wave guns around. End up shooting buddies. What we need is a manual handed out with any purchase. Show what is what. Include a photo of someone with head blown apart. Make it real, not a game. Explain a simple .22 can go a mile. Or a bullet shot into the air has to come down somewhere. And gravity does the same velocity. Teach kids no means no..something they don't get anymore.

London in the UK and Toronto in Canada both have gun control. London is now the knife murder capital of the world and while Trudeau pushes even more gun control against legal gun owners the streets in Toronto are filled with more illegal guns and increasing numbers of gangs in ghettos. This is what you get with socialists pushing their disastrous ideology... no true commitments to solving problems interested only in staying in power, open borders, flawed immigration systems, believing unlawful migrants are immigrants, and removal of free speech which results in corruption. The only way humanity can survive is if patriots of all nations have weapons to defeat evil and defend against dictators, terrorists, and criminals in your own communities. The EU is basically finished having been taken over by globalists... the US still has a chance to save liberty and justice for all as long as the rats in Congress and swamp are eliminated. The Rockefeller Syndrome is full-blown in 2020... if Trump loses by a rigged election China will become your master and Biden will simply be a dancing puppet part of his clown show.
People bent on crime find away. Knives, cars, IEDs, Molotov cocktail, gas, poison. And turn in guns..oh yeah..criminals race to do that. Strict laws? Then why can one go to the dark web and buy a missile launcher? Why do street gangs have machine guns? Gee..illegal..guess can't own one then. What bull! Countries with super strict laws still have shootings. Terrorists must all manufacture their weapons by hand...DYI.

Politicians want our guns, because they are the only thing that stand between them, and the whole cookie jar...
They have Donald Trump for president they voted for him . Joe Creepy Biden is the other candidate. If this is all a country of 300 million people can produce for a world leader then yes the more guns the better til they annhialate themselves they're so dumb . The American dream is greed wealth more more of everything they're the most obese people on planet dying of COVID 19 because of self induced ill health from stuffing their gobs with McDonald's. So yes go on and keep killing each other you bunch of dumb people because we need less fat dumb people in the world not more .
It's obvious that only those who are/can be proven responsible gun owners should be allowed to have guns.I also feel that every gun owner should be tested/screened to make sure that they are still mentally able to have guns.
I doubt if it's going to matter if certain guns are banned cause there are other things that people can/could use as a weapon to harm/kill someone.
Also it's my opinion that our government needs to enforce the gun laws which are already on the books. If any gun laws have expired then they need to be reinstated rather than creating new ones.A waste of taxpayers money and time.
Also it's about time the media was held accountable in the reporting of these shootings. They are allowed way way to much freedom in reporting. I ran across a article the other day which showed a mixture of true/false information regarding the media reporting in regards to the Sandy Hook School shooting.
Who was the the nut at Sandy Hook defending himself against?
Had a guy break into my house. Came home and was a co-worker. Threw him out after I put a bullet in my floor. Date said better call sheriff in case stuff stolen. Oh yeah?..be there in 30 minutes, on other side of county. If I wasn't armed and mean, what would I have done..offer the burglar a cup of coffee and asked him to please wait?
I've heard many arguments for and against. I remember in college we even had a British Parliament debate about the pros and cons of legalising weapons. Recently I got interested again in this topic and found a very good essay on guns
I advise you to read, especially the first two which relate to the issues and arguments that we are talking about now. The never-ending series of mass shootings, including school shootings, results in many tragic casualties that place the US among the first countries in the world according to the number of firearm-related deaths, well above the medium rate of Western countries. While studies clearly show that laws limiting or prohibiting guns lead to fewer victims, in the USA, possessing guns is considered one of the fundamental rights, since it dates back to the Second Amendment.
