Oregongold: Hmmmmm lets see violent video games.. Parents let their kids play them or even buy them for them.. Be the parents grow balls and say NO. I put full blame on the parents FOR NOT BEING THE RESPONSIBLE PARTY! Also Jack the Ripper, Ted Bundy, Jeffery Dahmer, Theodore Kazinski didn't play violent video games and they were murders.

Some of these were abused and is just as bad as mental torture and others are just mentally sick.. It would make more sence to put the money into helping the mentally sick than to waste money to try and control what is what people can smuggle or get on the black market
I am all for the ban of assault rifle and hand gunspeace

medical certificate on the mental state of the person who wants to buy a firearm
review of and if any criminal record

ooby_dooby: The problem is, a gun is a tool that has the power to snuff out a life with just a slight movement of a finger. When that kind of power falls into the hands of a mentally deranged person a disaster occurs. It's hard enough to keep this tool out of the hands of an insane person and it's made almost impossible when this person can just walk into Walmart and buy a gun. Worse yet, is this same lunatic can buy an ammo clip that holds 30 bullets and 1000's of bullets online with no restriction what-so-ever. Do you seriously believe that this is right? Can you name one legitimate reason for the average citizen to have a gun that holds 30 bullets? Can you name one legitimate reason for the average citizen to have a gun that has a folding stock or a muzzle flash suppressor?
Stricter gun laws are coming, you better get used to it.

thumbs up

no one is saying people can't have a gun but there is no reason that any reasonable person would object to logical controls of danf=gerous weapons unless they are perhaps derranged.....in which case....produce that mental health certificate please.

BTW - side note - another school shooting today in Calicrying

we have to get control of this....the good and safety of out society and young people is more important that a gun owner's impatience with being required to be responsible and REASONABLE .... NO no one needs automatic weapons and large clip......insane

Few here legally posses automatic assault rifles and the hand gun will always exist legally held in the USA.

I was not trying to point the finger at any Country as it happens all over the world but as a hunter my guns are regestered with the government and I have no need for assault rifles or hand guns

Wineman42: I am speaking as a ethnical hunter who has no use for automatic weapons and up here it is illegal to carry a hand gun so I have no need for them.. If some-one pulled a knife on me --yes my gun would be pointed at then as well in defence as we have the right to do so... I wish there was help for the liberals--but I don't think there is

As a casual observer reading all these posts, one thing jumps out at me, those who seem to think they should have every killing device invented, available to every citizen, are the ones who are showing the greatest anger, they are the one being abusive and name calling. They are the ones who IMO need anger management lessons and should never be allow a killing device and only allowed plastic cutlery.
Frightening to think that some on this site will, at some point take an innocent life, because their anger got the better of them.

Kind of impractical using a rifle in close quarters, like inside your home, don't you think? And a sawed off shotgun isn't the better solution indoors either when someone breaks into your home while you and your spouse are sleeping. I know how that scenario goes and ill reserve the details.
A number of hunters here will only use pistols, with open sights too, when hunting. Few here would think of hunting without at least having a pistol for backup. Just saying.

my anger only resides in the fact that so many want to just piss off all the blood that was spilled to insure my rights to have protection from tyranny as if it were nothing !!!...i have never shed blood with a weapon and God forebid i ever have to...i won't get into a debate about freedoms with you because it would be pointless...

I have an ash bat beside the bed and my knives in my night stand and if my spouse was still alive she would insist that the shot gun was there as well..When I hunt in 30 years my first shot has only missed twice (my stupidity for not checking the gun before)

AS I posted way earlier in this thread even if they do enforce gun control it's obvious to me that someone could/can easily use something else as a weapon.

I'd also put a bet on how long it would take someone who breaks into someones home and pulls a gun and shoots someone VS on how long the response time would be for a police officer to arrive at that persons home.

A wise man once stated that the police officers are NOT first responders, if you are there and something happens do you really want to wait for the police to show up? First responder is the first person to jump into action. Sort of like seeing someone have a heart attack, do you call 911 and waste time or do you do CPR and then call 911? Never trust in the authorities, for they show up AFTER it is too late. A person that gets involved, is usually the first responders. If it takes 5 minutes for authority to get to the location, what can someone do in that 5 minutes? Odd way of looking at things. Good to see ya!

Some years ago one of my late husbands computer customers kicked the back door in of my home.Lucky for me I was in my side yard and by the time I got around to the patio door he'd already kicked in the side door off our driveway. If I would've had a gun then I'd shot him..I did call the police and they took hours to get to my home.

He could've killed me and stuck me into something before the police ever got there.

Later that day I found out from my late husband who that the guy carried a thumb gun. Most anyone who knows anything would know what a thumb gun is/was.
