OkieChic: Have you ever been taken the wrong way, and that person end up not liking you? Please explain....
Quite frequently Miss Chic. It's the nature of this international site. Different levels of language comprehension, cultural bias, different backgrounds and experiences. It's to be expected and I sure had to learn how to toughen up my skin a bit and not take things personal. If someone doesn't understand me or like me, it's ok.

But you will upset and hurt others, and not intentionally. But for the reasons I stated above. Some are overly sensitive, some will say black when you say white, and then if you agree it's white, they will flip to black. It's the nature of the beast.
Just continue being yourself, you are a refreshing addition to the forums.

Totally agree KB..its impossible to please all the people all the time, in fact its impossible to please certain people any of the time!
I think I'm rarely misunderstood. If a subject is a serious one my posts are usually lengthy which gives me the opportunity to express myself clearly.
I also read my comments over at least 3 or 4 times before I post them to make sure something I wrote isn't taken the wrong way and more importantly that it's respectful and polite.
My reason for being here is to fill up empty time in my life. If people like me that's the icing on the cake but in reality I know that you can't be liked by everyone in an interntional community.
Linda Ellerbee, an American journalist, used to end her tv show by saying "And So It Goes" which should be self-explanatory.
I agree Monte, and I also like what Kaybee said. With so many personalities a few misunderstandings are inevitable - with or without the occasional language and/or cultural barrier.
I know I have been misunderstood, and I know I have misunderstood others at times! That is one excellent use of the private msg also - to clear those up (in way of a constructive suggestion).
On serious political/religious threads people are not going to agree most of the time. It's important to go into to those understanding that the person is not the opinion. There are members who I share lively banter with in the dating/relationship/ or music threads who I may disagree with in the political forums.....I have also learned sooo much in those forums. So what threads you are in is an important consideration.
Also, lest we forget (and I think we all do at times) there are a wide range of AGES on these threads...so before getting riled up consider the poster's age.....just a thought ..... and I liked Monte's Ellerbee quote......and so it goes.....
I've been taken the wrong way plenty of times. If someone doesn't like me I just figure it's their own lose and not mine.
I know there's cliques on here like there is on all websites.Cause they stick out like a sore thumb.
The language barrier is also a problem too.I've seen people on her argue over something and slam the other country which is wrong but they do it anyway.
I realize that it's human nature nature to disagree but I've wittnessed some very negative things being posted about other countries ways of doing things as in gun control.
Who really cares if another country chooses to ban guns in their countries and who are we the USA to pass judgement because they do.It's their right to do so just like it's the USA's right to have them.I think that's where a lot of disagreements come into play.If we can't solve our differences here we sure as heck can't expect the rest of the world outside this site to do the same.
It reminds me of the USA Government trying to police the whole world into following their rules.
I thought this was supposed to be a connecting singles site not a seperate singles site. Maybe the name should be changed to 'Ways to hate your neighboring country.' I've sure seen alot of it on here.
I've heard some members say that it used to be fun on here.I don't see that happening much anymore.Maybe that could be why some people chose to leave you think.

OkieChic: obviously, today is one of those days that I'm misunderstood, or better yet...have different opinions...
Take it on the chin lady
You and I have "clashed" for want of a better word over the Gun Laws ,and I've been misunderstood on many occasions.
I've always stated in these debates it's not our country ,so not for us to say what goes down.
Unfortunately this subject causes people to get hot under the collar where children are concerned. This gets people's backs up ,and then the fights start
Americans have a nasty habit of throwing the Royals into the pot at every opportunity. I say don't knock what you don't understand. It's our country ,our choice.
People are entitled to an opinion, and we as posters need to consider that. It may well differ from our own, but that's no excuse to go bad mouthing that person or indeed their country.j.m.o
