Beachy, I responded to you on my thread about grudges.

May I make a suggestion. You said you hired an attorney. If you continue to be outspoken about this, it could be a problem for your case. comfort

Beachnit: curious of peoples thoughts on this

I understand you're upset but for all you know that person could have friends over here.

I'd be very careful they could press charges on you.

I would say a bit of all of the above. People may feel that they have a valid reason for doing this or any other kind of resentment for being rude or mean to others. Bottom line is that they are only ultimately hurting themselves. Best just to be nice towards others and for those who feel the need to be demeaning, well, it is easy enough just to stay away from them. There is really no need to have the last say because at the end of the day it just doesn't matter. JMO, Ken!! wave

You can block someone from writing on your own personal wall.

But it's obvious you can't stop someone from writing on their own personal wall.

It is cowardly and malicious!
Its a sign of callousness.
Some people thrive on hurting others feelings - in the process they become devoid of feeling anything!

Very well said Ken I agree for sure. It's just when someone's slandered someone on a public forum it gets seen by all their friends and family too. When it's using profanity and extreme maliciousness its going to far that's the biggest problem with social media. Thanks mate though like the way you think..

People who do this need to grow up! Its easy for some to be this way because they're hiding behind a screen. But once its out there, its out there. Its shows all the people out there who sees it, what the person is like without knowing them.

I'm on FB myself. I've never encountered this problem personally. And if I did I would block & delete them from my friends list. I have no room in my life for those type of people.
If one can't "behave" on social media & the like...they shouldn't be allowed....& perhaps lose the privilege to be on it.

If I had a problem with any friend from FB I would never do it in public. I rather do it in private. It should stay between the two people & not escalate into involving othe people. Once that happens, it sometimes makes it worse & often gets out of hand. It accomplishes nothing!

Hi Beachnit, this may be seen by all friends and family... but remember that these people know you well and understand what is lies and what is truth about you. Knowing who you are will show this person up for what they are... Using profanity and being malicious gets most people off-side immediately. All will be well for you....

My thoughts are, T'ain't no such thing as a "personal facebook." That's an oxymoron. You signed onto Facebook, you put it out there for everyone to see. What did you think you were signing up for?

Its not related to me but thanks anyway Im not on FB but In recent times ive been angered by some others actions I just dont understand how some people manage to manipulate peoples thinking into believing lies about someone when they are posting slanderous comments in this fasion its weird. All I can say is people that follow the malisiousness of some show thaey also have no moral integrity. Its like the lord of the flies although they know its wrong mean malisious etc they have no spine therefore join in..

Yeah... in the pre-social media days, that used to be called nasty gossip and back in the days when I was young, you'd go find the culprit and either threaten or give them a beating and that was the end of it.

Now, you have to deal with lawyers.. my god. You may have a problem with a lawsuit though because you have to prove that you've been damaged by whatever the person said (i.e. did your business/work suffer because of it, did your mother have a real heart attack when she read it, etc.) The mere fact that it's offensive or not true won't hold up in court. It's morally reprehensible, but not illegal in and by itself, just like "gossip" isn't illegal.

Hi Scuba
there has been successful lawsuits in matters that dont necessarily cause damage as such but are untrue the defamation laws do state to write "untrue" statements about someone is infact illegal and can result in successful lawsuits I hve several links if your interested in the cases. However the FB slander i was refering to has been removed it wasnt about me nor do i have facebook. I have dropped the case all I wanted was the comments to be removed really and Ive proved successful in doing that so Ive stopped the legal movement. I much prefered the old fasioned way you refer to but lifes got to a point where its not possible to take that option without fear of prosicution anymore anyway enough said
Thanks Scuba
Beachy
