Due to the devastation of a heavy earthquake, whatever precautions you have taken, will be destroyed. Help and assistance will have to come from outside.
However, I do have a bit of advice. When the earthquake starts, get under a strong table; try to force your head as far as possible between your legs – and kiss your áss goodbye!
Shaking and ground rupture, principally resulting in damage to buildings and other rigid structures.
Landslides and avalanches
Fires by damaging electrical power or gas lines.
Soil liquefaction occurs when, because of the shaking, water-saturated granular material (such as sand) temporarily loses its strength and transforms from a solid to a liquid.
Tsunami near coastal areas.
Floods near a dam, river or lake.
Human impacts. The aftermath may bring disease, lack of basic necessities, and higher insurance premiums.

Earthquake...different from a hurricane.
