They are still around and for sale.
They are a space saver bed that folds up into its own frame. In the old days there were apts. that were equipped with them to save space. My aunt and nana lived in such a place. We thought it was fun at the time.

That would probably be me as I commented about it in the little house thread.
A Murphy Bed folds up into the wall to gain floor space. It's a full size bed with a mattress. You just life it up from the floor and direct it towards the wall. Then it's flush against the wall and you don't even know it's there.

you must have enjoyed it ....... mine tried to eat me once.... i wound up neer the bottom and took forever to oppen the darn thing back up........ after that, it was perfect for hide and seek.....except, getting out was still a little trickyThey are a space saver bed that folds up into its own frame. I've seen them and heard that they were usually found in some smaller apts where the space wouldn't normally hold a regular bed.

Murphy and wall beds are as hot as ever(just google and see what's available)--I lived in a small studio house that had a side-mount Murphy bed, and a double bed at that. When closed, it just looked like a cabinet, AND, there was plenty of room on top for a single mattress for a guest--it was the smartest tiny living space I ever had, and I lived there for many years.------ This poll is Archived ------
