Why do some people make remarks, sometimes very interesting and sometimes quite controversial, but will not allow comments. Is it a mistake or do they fear to be contradicted? Sometimes I also get funny comments, but I mostly enjoy it.
It sounds so totalitarian to me to say something and not wanting to listen to the reply. Like 'Listen and shut up'.
Those blogs are spam. I agree several options: They don't like critique. They don't like to be contradicted. They don't like discussing things. They know they are right. No comments needed.
Not being able to sustain a debate. Lack of time to reply to comments. Intolerance of being confronted by negative comments. Copy and paste without knowledge of the subject. Difficulty to communicate in English. Individual statement needing no feedback.
Overall, everyone has the same opportunity to blog with or without comments, it is an option. I don't see anything nefarious about it. Posting with comments can sometime leave you open for negativity, nasty personal attacks, judgmental replies or a critical essay on your choice of words or ideas.

They just want to shove down your throat their beliefs or opinions like asking you to read certain Bible verses. I think they feel you only need to be educated, no discussion.
Hello dear! Good to see you. How are you? I am fine, thank you.
I have been too lazy to come on CS lately. I never log out but the system logs me out after some hours of inactivity and I am just too lazy to log in again.

it's a first, it's official, I have actually agreed with something you commented on.... how did this happen?????
(just kidding Guzman).... .... about agreeing with you.... nah, about this being my first time..... hehehe ..... I think I need to be put on some medication.
Yes, it is an option and it is anybody's choice to exercise that option, but then make a neutral statement that won’t invite reaction. Like ‘I will be out of town for a few days; see you when I come back’. No comments needed or invited.
Don’t hide behind an option button if you want to make inaccurate or controversial one sided statements that will invite comments.
When I was a kid I ran faster than most; even much bigger boys. I often pulled faces at the older boys and ran off; to the delight of everybody. They used to dare me to take on bullies as well. One day one of them caught me …

yes catfoot, option or not, that should not be the issue. the reason behind the blog should be.

Hi Migsy , I saw only one blog getting complete out of hand a few weeks back - when I knew where it would go, I stopped reading it. I don't read all blogs so I wouldn't say I know everything what's going on - and I don't really want to.
On banned members - there is a reason why they got banned and probably will be banned again. Should happen earlier in a lot of cases btw.
