alabamabebe: The only gambling I've done is raffle tickets and football pools, used to win those a bunch. I think it would be fun to go to a casion, especially if I was spending someone else's money! I'm too much of a Scot to like gambling a whole lot, I can't bear to throw money away.
Oh yea, I am in a football pool also...forgot about that.

We have about 120 people in our pool. If you win the week, you win 75% of the pot. If your year end accumulation of winners are in the top 3, you win part of the remaining 25% that was accumulated during the season.

vonney: Was married to a gambler, we lost everything including our home as a result of his gambling. I know some people can do it in moderation but as for myself I buy the occasional raffle ticket if is for a good cause but never gamble or buy lottery tickets
That's too awful Vonney.
We had a business he wanted to start, went about ten years, then the last recession that hit came along and the business suffered to the extent that we had to sell the home we had built to pay things off. As if that wasn't enough he had to carry on spending what little we had over, on his stupid ambitions instead of putting it as downpayment on a smaller house and we had two small children by then!

agman: Don't gamble anymore. Did once and used to count cards and had some success but nothing to make a livin with. Now days I do not gamble, or even buy lottery tickets and never raffle tickets. Rather buy some good food.
Good food is always a sure bet.
You must have a good mind to count cards..........
I don't consider myself to be a "gambler" even though it's been said that I gamble with my life every single day while I'm on the road. However, I do buy an occasional lottery ticket and, when I'm in the vacinity of a casino, I've been known to feed a few slot machines. As a rule, I'm fairly intuitive and can usually tell within 1/2 an hour or so of playing whether I'll have any luck or will lose it all. As a result, I'm probably a couple of thousand dollars ahead over the past 20 years. Even managed to take more than $600.00 from a penny slot last weekend at the casino in Cherokee, NC. (First time we've gone in more than a year.) The thing is, I set a "losing limit" at the beginning and never go past that. Also, once I've started winning, I routinely save back a certain portion of my winnings that are not to be touched under any circumstances - For instance, if I start with a hundred bucks, lose 80 and win 600, then 500 hundred goes into my wallet and I continue playing on the remaining 120. That way no matter how much I win or lose after that, I'm still at least 400 ahead.

mrsmiles4444: I'm not into Vegas, because if you go, you're there for a few days, and I do enjoy gambling. I go to Atlantic City about twice a year with a few of my friends and we go for the night. I take what I can afford to lose , yet have always come home with money. never have I come home broke, or losing what I set out to lose. We go strictly to Harrah's, and while we get a comp room, and comp dinners and breakfasts, the money we bring is for GAMBLING. Great deal of fun. I love roulette.
If you are not in the paring garage and by my car at 11:00 AM, you need to find another way home. that's the rule, and everyone abides by it. haven't left anyone up there yet...
I have never been to a casino, would love to have a go.
But as you and others have said, I would take only what I was willing to lose so it keeps it enjoyable.
You sound like you have it well organized and a good time had by all......

Nice thought gambling with someone else's money, but who would pocket any winning?
Do you come from Scotland or do you mean your ancestry?
