In those days John Lennon and Paul McCartney were considered to be the main talent. Ringo Starr was said to have the least talent while George Harrison just hanged in there.
But now, in retrospect, who was the most talented of them?
I think it was Paul McCartney. All those beautiful songs written in combination with John Lennon; and then he did not just play the bass guitar. And that enthusiasm on the stage!
Ringo Starr's career after the break-up must put him in a close second!
I don't think John Lennon performed to his full potential.
Sorry George, you came fourth. But you were all very talented.

Lennon and McCartney bounced off each other, writing some great stuff. Lennon made some decent stuff after the split.McCartney didn't write much of interest to me after..George Harrison wrote a few top tracks too..
George Harrison without a doubt up there with Eric clapton and Jimi Hendrix as one of thee great Guitarists of all time people forget he Wrote graet songs when in The Beatles and after From My sweet Lord to Whilst my guitar gently weeps, which incidently Clapton played lead guitar on, he also wrote one of my fave songs what am i without your love and the great album All things must past. he was also the Beatle that gave it its Indian feel in later year after Ravi shanker taught him how to play guitar, anything with strings George could play.
From a political slant it has to be john Working class hero inluenced me polituically
I always liked George the most, he had a quiet coolness about him. I never cared much for Ringo's drumming style because he actually had none, but in his defense he was a good accompanist drummer albeit rather pedestrian. John was a great writer "Imagine" was a classic. Together Paul & John were a great writing duo but I think John had the edge on Paul in that department. The Beatles were a classic example of together they were greater than the sum of their parts. With 20/20 hindsight it was a mistake for them to split up.

OMG,am sure Beethoven and Bach, turned in their graves with your comparison
Catfoot: I believe that in years to come our grandchildren's grandchildren will learn in school about Lennon & McCartney as we now learn of Beethoven and Bach!

I think the Beatles were great especially for their time. I wouldn't say they could be compared to great classical composers but with George Martin as their producer they were able to produce some amazing songs with orchestral sounds - Hey Jude is a good example of this at the end of the song.

it's as simple as the alphabet
George, then John, then Paul and then Ringo but together as the Beatles they changed music forever and I was 13 years old and lived it...what a great time to grow up in

Ringo was a good drummer, low key, just what was needed over Pete Best. I liked Lennon the most. What a damn shame that Mark Chapman killed him. He deprived us of much more great music, especially if these guys had gotten back together. That guy has got to be the A,,hole of the millennia,,
