That would not make elmo's character a child molester, neither should it result in a witch hunt and have all elmo toys banned from a kids playroom. elmo did not represent the molester, his voice was used to represent elmo. Unfortunate for elmo and more unfortunate for the molested. But it would be pointing anger and frustration in the wrong direction.

Maus...I hear you, fully capable of seperating the man behind the voice from the character...never meant to apply or place anger towards the character or the Sesame Street franchise...nor did I suggest banning the toy. Just pointing out that it's a little creepy to think about...thus making the "voice" a monster.

No, I hadn't heard about that. I retract my joking comment above and thank you for providing me with that opportunity, funx.

I wonder how the constant in-your-face reminder of the Elmo character in its various forms will impact on those who were molested.
Not that they're likely to ever forget, but neither will they be able to control being reminded unpredictably and regularly. Not a good mix if they have a dose of PTSD, I should think.

It wasn't my intention to make you feel stupid. Sorry.
Just a thought about weighing up the upset caused to children by having their favourite toy burned at the stake versus the upset caused for others by it not.

With some things one should know better. Staring 180 degrees in the wrong direction is embarrassing.
