Who are we to determine what people do with their own bodies. If they feel they need plastic surgery to correct something they feel uncomfortable about, why not? If you're going to ban plastic surgery then don't stop there. How about body piercing and tatoo's?
Before this goes to far I think we make sure we ackowledge that the poll is about Cosmetic Surgery, not Plastic Surgery. Unless the OP would like to broaden the parameters that is.
Cosmetic Surgery vs. Plastic Surgery
Cosmetic surgery is a unique discipline of medicine focused on enhancing appearance through surgical and medical techniques. Cosmetic surgery can be performed on all areas of the head, neck and body. Because treated areas function properly but lack aesthetic appeal, cosmetic surgery is elective.
Plastic surgery is defined as a surgical specialty dedicated to reconstruction of facial and body defects due to birth disorders, trauma, burns, and disease. Plastic surgery is intended to correct dysfunctional areas of the body and is reconstructive in nature. It just seemed that this might help us know what we are discussing, there is a definitive difference here.

Yes, its good to look at definitions to provide clarity.
Except does it?
Isn't there quite a complex overlap between the two definitions?
Some surgery may be to with social functioning, so facial scarring might not effect physical life functioning, but may effect someone emotionally, psychologically, or in some other area, like employment.
Who is to say what other people should be able to manage and whose lives will become more functional for surgery?
If one can argue that non-life threatening facial scarring might be worthy of being under the plastic surgery definition, couldn't you likewise argue that a nose, or ears, or breasts might also fall within this definition.
Likewise, some surgery deemed necessary by some might not be by others. I knew two lads at school who both decided they were completely fed up of surgeons messing with their faces because everyone else thought it would improve the quality of their lives.
In answer to the OP directly, I'm beginning to think you have an obsession with restricting people's options and personal choices.

Glad, that I don't need it at all... not even complete make up... I have no problem with my bare face...
