lalasierra: Are you a wise person ONLY because of your age and what you've experienced throughout your life?

I think wisdom does come with age. I remember asking my son when he was very young did he know what wisdom was. He answered, "I'm not sure but I think it's something to do with teeth."
It depends! I used to think that the older people get the wiser they will be. But then experiences have shown me that.. every one is surely growing old, but not all is growing up.
Life experience and how to behave in social settings hopefully comes with age, but if there is no intelligence / wisdom in the first place, it won't suddenly appear when you reach a certain age.

Once upon a time in functional civilisation then experience did equal wisdom. However, uniquely to our modern epoch(because of unparalled debts, welfare and sweatshop labours)the Western person can be dysfunctional(or at the most, materially resourceless)their entire life and still manage to stay alive. Only in this era can one be reality-illiterate from birth to old-age without dying inbetween.

So no, wisdom does not come with age, wisdom comes with accordance and exposure to reality.
I would also suggest that wisdom is genetically predisposed and this is why the "lemming" and "free-thinker" is not a Black & White status, but a series of gradients between the wise and the decadently silly, even when comparing closely-related groups and backgrounds the diversity remains which means that inborn Human nature exists! We're not a blank slate or mere putty to be moulded as the Fascististically-minded would wish us to believe.
Or at all. Most people grow up and they adopt the broad mindset of the status-quo, now if the status-quo has been proven to be an inept failure - in the way it has so conclusively - then the children are more sensible and correct than the adults.
The child knows nothing and knows that it knows nothing, the adult knows only failed way but actually believes in them - a belief so religious and irrational that they will murder themselves, their culture and their own children in service to their "morality".
And what and who are the judges of this so called wisdom???? Is it out own personal view of ourselves, or other people´s opinion??? Everyone makes choices....only history shows whether or not they were "wise" choices.

No, wisdom does not come with age. Wisdom comes with life experiences, making mistakes and learning from them.
Sure hopefully we learn from lifes experiences. They also say that patience is a virtue that comes with age ...But who the hell wants to be a patient old person??? that sounds boring as hell!!! Personally, I have other plans

A very good question but you've inadvertantly given the answer (or part of it anyway). To my way of thinking wisdom does not come with age but it does come with experience therefore you are both right and wrong at the same time (a feat which in itself is extrordinary).
Wisdom doesn't automatically come with old age. Nothing does - except wrinkles. It's true, some wines improve with age. But only if the grapes were good in the first place.
NAKEDMUDPEOPLE: From birth, life has given me experiences that have made me wise. Some of the experiences did not take, for some reason or another.
I often share my knowledge and I always say that this is free advise, choose to do with it what you will. Hopefully they absorb it and use it corrrectly.
So yes, I agree with you.
If you use the knowledge you are a taker and if you share the knowledge it will be taken.
The knowledge of wisdom is free, be careful how you use it.
