At the age of 7, I ran like hell to a nearby river where I thought the rainbow ended to get the pot of gold before anyone else could...boy, was I disappointed.

That the percipitating cloud has past and that the light source is 180 degrees (give or take) opposite and is creating a spectrum as the visible light reveals its spectral wavelengths as it passes through the water droplets.
So...I would lean towards its "just another beautiful day"....but then again....I have sen a rainbow after a tornado tore a strip across the landscape,....so,....a rainbow is simply an atmospheric phenomena illustrating refraction and reflection of electromagnetic radiation (frequency = visible light).

Legend has it that Leprechauns spend all their time busily making shoes, and store away all their coins in a hidden pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
But actually the story was one ingenious Irishman's idea to get annoying American tourists to charge off into the distance.

Has anybody ever seen a rainbow from above like from a plane? If so you will see that a rainbow is round. I has no beginning or end. The closest thing to describing a rainbow is a soap bubble. You can't see a rainbow from inside the bubble which is why rainbows appear after the rain has passed. The bubble moves away from you til you're outside the bubble when you can finally see it. I've seen double and even triple rainbows but the third rainbow was really hard to make out. That's the result of a bubble inside of another bigger bubble. It's quite a beautiful sight. There is nothing spiritual about a rainbow it's just a part of the science of meteorology dealing with water vapor and sunlight.

Hey Oobs..
God made rainbow as a sign that he would never cause the flooding of the earth that would kill everybody not on the ark again... and just to make sure, he put some gold at the end of rainbows and let the Irish put some leprechauns there to guard the gold...
