The PRISM program spies on Americans, yet the gov will let terrorists in because they don't want to 'racial' profile (for instance, the Boston bombing). What is 'racial' about a terrorist? It's like saying we should not profile serial killers because it's 'racial,' even tho most are caucasian.

YES, all of the women should all be screened thoroughly using very up to date cleaning methods. They can start by being maids for a week at my little ranch home in Worthington, Ohio. All of their clothes may be collected here and searched by any new branch of the NSA during their term as maid.

There's a question your opening presents: why does government allow relatively lax entry laws/practices?
My recent trip to the US proved interesting - I learned a couple weeks ago when I was at the Embassy that on entering and leaving back in April, US officials did not stamp me in or out... how often does this type of oversight occur? How diligent are the "officials" in their observations? I'm glad that Costa Rica was equally lax when they did not stamp me back in on arrival and that they did not question why I didn't have the US stamps in my passport because because I sure as heck don't know how that could happen. There seems to be a lack of accountability at the government level.
While I am no fan of stricter travel laws, I do think that other countries offer more effective systems that the US could copy. And, it would be helpful if the officials did a more effective job when reviewing traveler's papers. That includes not bothering to pull aside for full searches little old ladies with white hair died blue and wearing floral print dresses.
Boban1: Whats the estimate US profit from tourism for the year 2012
That's a valid point Boban1. The U.S. promotes more tourism within than external so I guess we haven't had much of tourism industry like some other countries that rely on it. And I've never understood why anyone would think the Euro a good idea for tourism in Europe by Americans, or England for that matter.

Nothing wrong with Europe! I'd love to spend more time there than I do now. However, with the imbalanced currency exchanges, as they are, more and more Americans elect to spend their holidays/vacations at home where they can get more bang for their buck.
Europe had more of a tourist industry (from the USA, especially) before the Euro, which was created to compete with the U.S. Dollar. Heck, I've often thought I'd love to live in Amalfi, Italy 'permanently' (as I have Italian citizenship too), but my $78,000 USD annual pension wouldn't go very far there.

PJ1961: Hi Galrads! Been busy with the climate colab and Cecalli reforestation projects and distracted by another set of threads lately, hope all is well
I'm pretty excited about the support the reforestation project is getting. Have some new friends in Nicaragua who are not prat of the project but they like and are actively recruiting supporters now. :)

so stoked. it means that the proposal may well win which means Cecalli will get the funds they need to plant 300,000 trees! Yippee
That's terrific news! Always so glad to hear something so positive about the Environment! Sometimes I'd like to be more involved in public outreach programs like this again. Then I reach for more of my NSAIDS

I totally get that. So glad that here in Nicaragua no NSAIDS required, everyone is pretty open to such ideas... no hard lobbying
