I watch fox because its entertaining but no I dont trust them either I would have to say that the alternative media seems to be more reliable for telling the whole story.

I should have probably listed more sources but as I am limited to what I can watch due to language barriers I went with those.

And I just plain forgot about the BBC sorry

All news medias are bought by governments, so you can hear what governments want you to hear....not what you’re suppose to know. very mad devil

I don't trust ANY news &, sorry to say, you shouldn't trust the Irish Independent. While I lived in Ireland, they did a news article about me & got 1/4 of it wrong or misquoted.

They are all there to just do a job & get paid. I don't think ANY news agencies actually care if their info is accurate or not. They have a deadline to meet & don't bother to check their sources, which is what GOOD journalism is supposed to be all about.
And, yes. I also agree that they feel the need to be more 'politically correct' than truthful.

At least they got 3/4 right.laugh

Why I said RTE and the Indo is the Irish press is not as politically motivated as other countries. Like in the US Fox is so right wing and Republican I can't believe they can call themselves a news station. More propaganda in my eyes.

Jimmy Saville,(They buried a show that showed him for the Peado scumbag he was so they could run shows in tribute to him.) Stuart Hall and accusing a lord of being a Peado by mistake. All in the last year. The BBC is the last organisation I would trust.

Yes it is. Kind of a shame really you didn't have an other category, or list at least one of the channels I prefer to go to for my news.

I was very impressed with the satellite TV news coverage we were getting from the Canadian Broadcasting Company in the days prior to the invasion of Iraq and their raising of doubts about the presence of Weapons of Mass Destruction in that country. I guess our White House was also impressed because the next thing us viewers knew is a sudden change in the FCC Regulations resulted in no more satellite feed of CBC and the push to avenge the honor of the father of the President continued without media dissent.

In their absence for a long time I was stuck with the PBS Newshour (which is usually pretty good although slightly US centric) for credible news and of course the BBC.

The problem with the big 3 of free television (ie, ABC, CBS and NBC) is they cater much more to local news, important major events, such as which high school football team may win whichever town's next game, or subway delays, the rescue of horses from ditches and similar fluff stories. When they don't do the local news they just air whatever National news story their corporate headquarters has chosen to feed them and they air it without questioning anything. Somehow the corporate HQ is much more prone to downplay World news in favor of White House press coverage, so that when a candidate for India's election was killed (Bhutto) one of the stations cited went 2 days before mentioning it.

Fox and CNN are even more useless unless you wish to spend your day sitting two feet in front of the screen so you can read what is scrolling across the bottom of the screen while the talking head rambles on about his personal opinion of some church or tennis scandal. They do sometimes give good live coverage of breaking events if they have a day or two advance notice to get there, but usually it will be a feed from someone's camera phone. This was of course the obvious problem with the 'breaking news' story during the Iraq war when the populace tore down the statue. No one (on the CNN or FOX staffs) raised the question, how if is it that if this is a spontaneous action of a few people banding together for a concerted act, that all of the network television cameras were pre-positioned so as to afford the best angles of the action, and how is it the US vehicles just happened to be standing by in the square that morning to provide a muscle assist if there were not enough people for the task? Can we say, an orchastrated propaganda event with the embedded media presenting it as a 'news' story? That was it for trusting FOX and CNN for me.

One big problem (which I believe should be illegal) with US News coverage, the facts of which have been slowly trickling out since the Clinton days and gotten worse since then but obviously a back-burner story, is that the White House has been permitted to pay the media giants to put slant on the news. So depending on which party is in power, the lead stories will play the slant the White House wants, if they wish to be paid. Being corporations, the bottom line is money, so they often waste the first 10 minutes (if not the whole hour) talking about stuff that supports the administration's view of whatever. That isn't news. So I change the channel (if I am dumb enough to be there that day anyway).

i'm a bit of a marshall mcLuhan advocate. every media we see, already has it's own entrenched bias or agenda. so i chose ALT. if i'm really trying to find out information, i use multiple sources, mostly online. and while these also will have their own bias, they don't seem to have completely lost their ethics or search for truth.

I have no confidence whatsoever in an media news source, whether it be the major networks or the alternative media.

The media is all about manipulating thought. And it's been decades since that had anything to do with truth.

One is better off not even trying to keep up with all the new-told lies.
They only exist for the purposes of misleading, confusing, disorienting, deluding, etc etc etc.

Reading tea leaves will lead to more truth than listening to the media.

None of those you list are worth watching.

I used to enjoy the PBS news in the USA but too many of their reporters today have trouble hiding their bias that it is disgusting to watch.

If I want to find something out, I read several sources. It can be BBC, Al Jazeera, Asia Times Online, RT or Reuters. You can't rely on a single source because each has its own spin.

This depends on the programs that you watch on each station. I will watch Piers Morgan, Anderson Cooper, and Wolf Blitzer on CNN, and Rachael Maddow on MSNBC but I remain skeptical whenever things just don't add up. I don't need to watch FOX news to know how much of a joke they are. whenever I walk into someones house that has fox news playing on the television I tremble in fear. I'm afraid they might use my words against me in order to demonize me of something. Fox news has been proven to be nothing more than a breeding ground for conspiracy theories and myths. Just a group of people that can't accept reality and what is happening around them and seek alternative explanations or just someone that will tell them whatever they want to hear. After the election in 2012 and Romney lost after FOX news said he would and he was leading all kinds of polls in rasmussin (hope I spelled that correctly). Now most of their viewers consist of 70 something year olds. Bill O'Reilly is now ranting on a television somewhere at a hospice or retirement home rolling on the floor laughing
