Yes, I think men are more romantic than women nowadays. Very few women expect the Knight in shiny armour because they have become the Knight themselves.: doh:
Yes, and it's because it's an exception for men to feel this way. Whereas women, being generally watery and touchy feely, don't actually succumb to romance when it appears.. to talk of emotion, feeling and love all the time is the way to devalue these things.
There are also many things a man may lay down his life for: his Queen, his country, his wife, his children, his community.. women would sacrifice everyone and everything to save herself with the exception of her children. They're less romantic and do not have noble aspirations and ideals and this is essentially because, being of higher reproductive value and the carrier of life, she values herself above all of creation(cue: reality-illiteracy, selfish subjectivity, solipsism etc..).
Anyway, a woman in pure love is about as romantic as a beta male dating a woman he quite likes.

That's a good one!

I believe men are more romantic on average and the reason is this.
Like many things, romance is a learned skill. Men who wish to make the best impression on their choice of women feel a need to practice romance as a mechanism for winning their affection.
In most cultures it is deemed to be the man who is required to 'chase' the woman and as such they become more practiced in the art of romance. Most women seldom feel a requirement to romance a man into her bed... she normally only need ask.
The up-side for men is more nebulous but no less real.
As a by-product of becoming practiced at romance, men become a little more inrospective with respect to their own emotional connectivity and perhaps come to understand the structures of attraction and the nature of romantic bonding often without even realising it.
And before you know it - you are addicted to falling in love.

I never been described as being Romantic. The only people I have ever bought flower for were GFs mothers... when I was told to buy something nice... like flowers... and the only reason I had to do this with a few different women, was to keep the Mother on side.
Unsurprisingly, the odd things that I might have done before that could be construed as being romantic were always greatly appreciated.

Of course they are. When i was marreied, for no reason at all, twice a week i would bring a present home for her. There was the vaccum cleaner, set of pans, iron board,iron.....to many to mention.
I wouldn't know. Out of all the guys I've dated, only ONE man knew how to treat a lady romantically. The rest were totally clueless; awkward; & didn't know the first thing about how a lady wants to be treated. They treated me like one of their buds.
I dont know the answer to that, but i do know that for me,romance will never be dead. Its a beautiful feeling to spoil and care for the woman you are with.
