Ken_19: And that is the point of why you should not do that if you want the other person to be serious about you. I casually dated one like that once when I was in my 20s. Found out sure enough she was routinely giving her ex when she went to see her kids a little nooky now and then in return for some extra cash. Hey she admitted it. I decided that if it wasn't important to her, then she wasn't important to me and i moved on. I later heard her next BF went to jail for beating up the ex in front of the kids. LoL.
The original poster wasn't asking if it's ok to stay friends with your ex. He was asking if it's ok to stay friends with his son/daugher/brother/sister's exes.

Then I misunderstood his sentence structure. That is trickier. Probably so, if you don't advertise it to the relative whose ex it was. You may not have much choice if you see them in the workplace or things like that. Just have enough sense to not have them both at events like parties you host unless you want to see sparks fly and risk getting caught up in the brawl.
