The threads in the different forums here are usually interesting to read and be a part of. The reason they are started are for people to share their thoughts and opinions on that particular topic. Why can't people just agree to disagree and perhaps maybe do it in a constructive manner without slander and name calling. What some do not realize is that there are many more that read the forums than actually participate, now why would you care to put yourself into a position to have that many people forming a negative impression of you. Four Children Gunned Down in Chicago During Zimmerman Trial
In the 20-day period of the George Zimmerman trial, four minors – three teens and a five-year-old boy - were gunned down in Chicago, according to Homicide Watch Chicago, a Chicago Sun-Times publication, which details every murder that takes place in the city.
On June 28, five-year-old Sterling Sims was killed in a double murder that also claimed the life of his mother, 31-year-old Chavonne Brown. Both were shot in their apartment, and police believe the motive was robbery.
On July 1, 16-year-old Antonio Fenner was gunned down on the sidewalk next to the body of a 32-year-old man who had gang ties. No arrests were made, and no suspects have been named. Fenner’s mother believes her son was in the wrong place at the wrong time, because no one in her family knew the other victim or what Fenner’s association was to him.
On July 3, 14-year-old Damani Henard was murdered outside a high school. His body was found next a bicycle.
On July 9, 15-year-old Ed Cooper was shot and killed while spending time with friends at the park. A gunman got out of a black van and began firing as the boys ran away. Cooper was shot in the street and continued running to a vacant lot where he died.

rohaan: None of us really ever know all the details, to start with. The jury was short (6, rather than 12) and all women. It is my opinion that these two factors were fair for both parties. (Because I firmly believe that women are better and/or far more astute at weighing all aspects of a given situation, and less likely to just shoot from the hip). By bringing Zimmerman to trial, the state accepted the outcome beforehand. Therefore, it would be most appropriate for them to defer and agree that they were mistaken. The arena they chose to try the defendant in is their own; they need to agree with and fully respect and accept the outcome. It was their insistence that he be tried. He was acquitted. They need to be agreeable to that, because they put him in the position of defending himself. They were mistaken, by American law and law practice.
First, I posted this not to get the "last word" but rather to point out the machinations of the legal system here. I'm wondering if some members don't quite understand exactly what I'm saying, and if there might be a better, more succinct way to present it. Hmm...Let's put it on a less critical mode, just for examples' sake. I am at work and find that my records have been ruined by a careless employee. There is coffee spilled all over it and what appear to be cigarette burns on it. We have an employee who carries her coffee around all the time, and takes documents out to the smoking kiosk at break time. I don't like her. Because she is known to do this, I accuse her of the damage. I am not able to prove it, however. My boss is clear about this. I can't prove it, so I am, you guessed it, WRONG. I went through the correct procedure to mitigate my damages, and by so doing accepted the method of doing so. I would owe the employee an apology, and fully accept responsibility for being wrong, regardless of what I "thought".

@ Glatlol.
I think it pretty shabby to denegrate a dead child . He may have been a lot of things, as teenagers usually are,,but he will never get the chance to become an adult and prove them all wrong.

Just because someone is a teenager does not give them carte blanche to be wrong. Otherwise, what absolute mayhem! (How are victims of crimes supposed to know how old, how experienced, etc... a perp is? Are they supposed to think, "Well, it IS dark, he DOES have his head kind of hidden, so he COULD be young, so I'll just take a HUGE chance and HOPE he doesn't kill me??" Are you for real? There are consequences to shenanigans and crimes, regardless of the age. Society cannot be expected to somehow instinctively know, and weigh it all out while being victimized. Yes, it is truly sad, and it would be wonderful if young people who are misguided could have those chances to improve, and make successful lives, but it is not realistic nor reasonable to expect the community to somehow figure out someone's youth before being severely injured or mortally wounded.
this is so over done by the media - enough I think - the jury spoke - the legal system worked.... let the mob disperse.... nothing to see anymore... move along....
Harleyquinn: @JK I agree!!!! Rioting only worsens things!
But the media coverage does keep the eyes off of what else is going on with the country/government!
Handy, as usual, eh?
SHANTI
Maybe the media's attitude will change a little after Zimerman gets through with legal actions against NBC for defamation. It would be nice to see Zimmerman end up owning NBC.
Zimmerman is definitely guilty and the outcome of the case was intended to infuriate the black community and increase police state legislation in response to civil unrest
Why is zim guilty? Simple: a concealed carry holder has a legal responsibility to avoid confrontations. You can't claim self defense after provoking someone
This is why private security guards are legally required to openly carry their weapons, not conceal! Questioning "suspicious" people is a form of provocation
Anyone who thinks zimmerman is guilty needs to have their head examined. There is so much misinformation in some of these posts its ridiculous. The mainstream media would love you to believe he was just out buying sweets and thats all and he was a innocent 12 year old boy. When in fact he was 17, around 6 foot tall and worked out a lot. He was a lot more muscular than zimmerman. Zimmerman pursued him cause he was in a hoodie out at night and zimmerman had made multiple calls in the last months that teens were in his neighborhood doing bad things and he wasn't gonna let this one get away cause the cops never got there on time.
He pursued him and trayvon didnt like it and turned and beat the crap out of him. Fearing for his life zimmerman shop trayvon. Well within his rights as a U.S. citizen when his life is in danger. Trayvon was not innocent. He had a criminal record, smoked weed more than twice a week and lashed out. It's ridiculous how many people believe what fox or nbc puts on tv. And uses it to base all their opinions and ideas on. Zimmerman was innocent and did what he had to do to protect himself. If you think he got away with murder than something is wrong with you.
If TM was on top of GZ bashing his skull into the concrete, why wasn't GZ's dna under TM's nails?
To the fonts calling TM a "thug" and "trash"; Don't forget about Zimmerman's prior offenses (domestic violence, resisting arrest, fighting with a cop)....but that's ok, right?
The fact is GZ was a definite contributor to the circumstances that lead to the loss of TM; and so he should not be allowed to simply walk away free and get his gun back...
He created a hostile confrontational atmosphere in the dark with a complete (innocent) stranger, and ended up taking the life of a scared kid who was fighting to protect himself.
Zimmerman was found not guilty in a court of law... but I'm sure his guilty conscience is eating him alive.

The crux of the case is in red. And we only have Zimmermans word that Trayvon attacked him. But Trayvons friends said he was screaming "get off me" and he also said Zimmerman was approaching him!
The fact Zimmerman was following him and told the police "these punks always get away" as well as Trayvons friends evidence makes it more likely Zimmerman was the attacker and Trayvon was defending himself.

It just goes back to what I said. What is morally wrong is not always legally wrong here right now they are looking into how the news media handled this. Sensationalism of this case by trying to make it look different than what it was should of been beneath ethical news reporting. It has shed the news reporters and stations in the worse light than I have ever seen. And I have seen some pretty shoddy reporting. At the end of the day there is a life that has been lost never to breathe again. Just this thread alone shows how as humans we can screw up anything just by trying to think. None of us knows what happened or what Zimmerman felt or really what Trayvon was up to that night. In actuality if you look at the map he did not go the route for a simple trip to the store and home. It was raining and they said he was heading for a place of shelter. Was he? Do any of us really know. When we learn not to try and think for others and be mind readers then maybe we can have good relationships that grow and prosper. Just my opinion. The whole thing saddens me

I looked at the map. He was killed on a pathway only yards from his home. He went to the store but like a lot of teenagers may have went for a walk while talking on the phone to his friend...I really don't see how his route is relevant to be honest.
Or as you say that you do not see the relevance so the information should not matter to you one way or the other.
Relevant information matters. The route Trayvon took has no relevance at all. Why would it? You are trying to imply he was up to no good as he did not take the most direct route. There are a million reasons a teenager would take the long way home....Talkyng on the phone being just one.
Facts are Trayvon was walking home from the store. He was yards from where he was staying when killed. Why confront Zimmerman there? He told his friend he was being followed minutes earlier so why not confront Zimmerman then? His friend said Trayvon said "Get off me". Would you say that to someone you attacked? His friend said Trayvon said Zimmerman was approaching him....totally contrary to what Zimmerman said. Zimmerman told the Police "These PUNKS always get away"...tells you his frame of mind. Zimmermans story doesn't add up but the Jury didn't care about that and now we have people like you trying to tarnish Trayvons name by implying he was up to no good that night.
