MADDOG69: I read that this Trayvon had been caught with jewellery in his schoolbag before. Presumably from a house robbing. So what was he doing in the gated community looking around? Scoping out houses to rob?
"On the day Martin was fatally shot, he and his father were visiting his father's fiancée and her son at her townhome in The Retreat at Twin Lakes in Sanford, a multi-ethnic gated community, where the shooting occurred. Martin had visited his father's fiancée at Twin Lakes several times.
Martin had been suspended from school at the time of his death, his third disciplinary suspension of the year. One suspension was for tardiness and truancy. Another suspension in October 2011 was for graffiti, when Martin was observed by a security camera in a restricted area of the school marking up a door with "W.T.F." When he was later searched by a Miami-Dade School Police Department officer, looking for the graffiti marker, the officer found several pieces of women's jewelry in his backpack, which Martin said a friend had given to him. A screwdriver was also found, which was described by the school police investigator as a burglary tool. The jewelry was impounded and given to the police, but no evidence ever surfaced to indicate that the jewelry was stolen. Martin's third suspension involved a marijuana pipe and an empty bag containing marijuana residue. Martin was not charged with any crime related to these incidents and did not have a juvenile record. Judge Nelson ruled that the defense may have access to Martin's records, including the details of these suspensions, as well as access to Martin's social media sites, but ruled they will not be admissible as evidence during the trial unless they can be shown to be relevant."
rebel2: Possibly the same as UK law. Previous convictions and anything simaliar cannot be bought up before a verdict,so not to influence any jury. They must only relate to the facts concerning the current case.
That sounds about right yet I feel to bring up ones past and not the others isn't fair. Yet fair has little to do with law and or politics.
Dont know wot this about, probably an other stupid yank with a gun???? Hope it's not any relation to Robert ZIMMERMAN...mine and other peoples hero Typical americans they are either trying to rule the world or killing each other....no sympathy

that "Friendly Fire" must have been sure unfriendly!
sofarsogood74: Did he not follow and confront this child? Was the child not just walking home after buying a soft drink and sweets? Is that what you country has become? A child goes to the shop for sweets, he is confronted by a stranger who ends up shooting him and you call it a "good shot"? Did the police not tell Zimmerman not to follow the teen? Why was he walking around with a gun in his pants anyway? If someone confronted you on the street would you not defend yourself. The teen was confronted by some lunatic he did not know while he was just walking home. The lunatic shoots him and he walks!
I wonder if the child was white would the outcome have been the same?
If it was your child would you have called it a "good shot"?
.
Right on!
Did you notice how Zimmerman looked like a white skinhead when he killed the boy; but lost the blond facial hair, and dyed his hair to look Hipanic?
Did you notice that in all the pictures people said, were Martin when he was 12, showed Martin with a mustache, broader shoulders than Zimmerman, and looking taller than Zimmerman? and Martin had a taller head than Zimmerman? (Zimmermanms head was just fatter)...
That was no picture of a 12 year old, that was how young the boy really was.
DaytonaDude: Most of us did some rotten things as kids and most of us has grown up and changed for the better. Unfortunately that won't be happening for Trayvon
So true R...Zimmerman also had issues of his own and unfortunately, he had a gun...the kid had nothing.
DaytonaDude: Most of us did some rotten things as kids and most of us has grown up and changed for the better. Unfortunately that won't be happening for Trayvon
And cowardly...apparently, Zimmerman practiced mixed martial arts three times a week and was a bouncer at one time. Could he not use the skills he learned to hold the kid down? Senseless killing.
Ccincy: All us watch captains had were walkie takies and a NW phone number to call to check on police reports to pass on to the rest of the members of the watch.

Thats exactly one of the points i was trying to make regarding the claim of self defence. With the skills he had,he could have dealt with the situation differantly.

Sadly, it appears a lot of the posters in this forum have formed opinions without the facts. We call this malicious prejudice.
"Gym owner Adam Pollock may have helped Zimmerman by describing the defendant as soft, fat and not an accomplished athlete in any way, shape or form. In other words, inept at martial arts.
WKMG's Calderon said "the big takeaway was Zimmerman had .5 ability coming in and 1.5 was ability after a year of training."
Anchor Lauren Rowe smiled broadly at the comment.
The takeaway for CNN's Ashleigh Banfield: Zimmerman is awful at fighting."

Do we know for certain Trayvon had no special skills? I do sympathize with his early demise from life. I also know that I do not know the whole story. My son was a brown belt at fourteen. My daughter a black belt at sixteen. It is popular here. So is the kick boxing. Some forms are taught in our schools.
And I have seen some outshape bouncers in my life time
Ken_19: Actually that is an interesting sidebar. Neighborhood Watch, Inc. has already been very clear Zimmerman is not one of theirs, so whose was he? The heat for this in the upcoming civil action will probably fall upon the Homeowners Association (HOA) in whose name Zimmerman was allegedly acting. Either way culpable or not I see the HOA being forced to spend a heck of a lot of money in the upcoming civil action. The dollar costs of that will probably blow right on by the upper limit of their liability insurance. Since 'wrongful death lawsuits are probably not a routine item on their budget the way they will be forced to pay for it is to raise their assessments on the lots and consider imposing Special Assessments to cover current and future legal costs.
.
Everything I saw in the news here, said, Zimmeman was in charge of Neighborhood Watch...
Now you say, he wasn't only a "Wannbe cop" he was also a "Wannabe Neighborhood watch?"
Can you please post where you found out, the Neighborhood Watch didn't even want him?
Ccincy: I know of one poster in particular who was making fun of galrads comments.
If you will read post number 13 you will see comments such as "verbal diarhea" and "keep your day job" and those laughing emoticons, as the start of the mudslinging.
galrads: I agree too about the "case" itself not being a laughing matter. I don't consider the outrageous bigotry and prejudiced remarks and insults, made by some of the CS posters, part of the trial case though.
These type of people don't contribute anything but spin with their remarks, and I try to laugh-off their hame calling and labels which they have thrown at me here and in other threads.
Ken_19: Zimmerman's nose had been broken and the back of his head was split open (lacerated) in several places from Martin slamming Zimmerman's head against the concrete curb over and over until Zimmerman finally defended himself.
But treyvon's body was on the grass well away from the concrete

I've read that and witnessed the very same from both men in another thread. They've both done their fair share of mudslinging.
It's obvious it takes one to start something and two to keep it going.
I don't know why they both don't just stay away from one another.

I have seen people die and they did not stay in one spot. Crawled rolled and poof....maybe that is how he ended up there. Maybe in their sqirmsh they rolled around a bit.
Dadude62: He was staying there,, lived there,,,
Not quite. He was their with his father visiting his fathers girlfriend. Whom lived there if you are talking about Trayvon. At least that is what the news, courts, and his father has claimed

I thought I either had read or heard on the news that he was in charge of recruiting the captains of the neighborhood watch. Are you familiar with the neighborhood watch program? It sure does not entail what some seem to think. I imagine now no neighborhood watch would want him. I could be wrong tho.

I doubt it given that he had a bag of sweets and a soft drink he had apparently just bought. I also do not claim to know everything about this story given that it hasn't occurred in my part of the world and therefore not been given much press coverage.
However, I, like many European citizens, will never understand or agree with the ease in which American citizens can carry guns, and these stories just strengthen my belief that it is so wrong.
Really professional bouncers by the way are often hired because of their sheer size and temperament. My father was a professional boxer who was a regular nightclub celebrity attendee and as a child I knew many of these men who "protected" people like my dad and became his "friends". They were often involved in seriously criminal activities and ended up in prison. They weren't strong men, just well built, wielding weapons in their black suits and cowardly.
(snip) As the organizer of the Pine Heights Neighborhood Watch, Williams’ responsibility is limited to staying alert of suspicious activity and reporting it to police dispatchers. The rest he leaves to the professionals.
“I’m just a citizen like everybody else. That’s what you’ve got to keep in mind,” Williams said. “You are not the police.”
Without taking dangerous situations into their own hands, ordinary residents in Pine Heights have helped authorities curb drug activity in the south Augusta blocks off Lumpkin Road near Mike Padgett Highway.
Williams said monitoring crime from afar was an important technique that Florida Neighborhood Watch volunteer George Zimmerman forgot when he shot and killed Trayvon Martin, a teenager said to have been walking suspiciously and wearing a hoodie. “That guy handled it exactly opposite the way he should have,” Williams said.(snip)

Temperment more than anything. I've known bouncers that were 5'7"-8". They were cool cucumbers. Their gift was diffusing stuff before it happened. And when all else failed they were solid as a rock even for their size.
