The US is a major player in the World Bank. Not only are there offices in the US Capital, but the US frequently gives the bank money or loan guarantees.
Ccincy - "I'm having a moment here. Why do they refer to countries like the U.S as a world bank?"
They don't. There really is a World Bank. It runs around giving low interest loans to developing nations and funds some other stuff. Google it, then come back and vote.
In my opinion tho the cause that it was created for is good it has gone astray and like many of the programs in the united states it needs to be looked at, closely, if need be dissolve it's partnership with the world bank. I also feel that even if we dissolve our partnership we should always help countries less fortunate than ourselves. A lot of our outreach programs here in the United States has turned into organized crime. As in robbery. The top ones feeding off the others. Our bankers' and our politicians seem to have a lot in common.
I also want to add that if my tax dollars are being used to hold something up I want to make sure that the money is going where it is needed not to line the fat cat pockets

US don't "give money" to World Bank; in fact it is a very lucrative business from the interest on the loans, and by open "free trade".
