No, I have never volunteered this information to any of my friends, but if someone asked me I wouldn't lie. Some of my family know and they aren't too happy about it!
I don't see that it's anyone's business to be honest, and I just know that most of my friends would be a bit worried. There have always been news stories about the many fake profiles and scammers who populate sites like this, but recently many more.
With hindsight though, I think it's a good idea to let someone know if a date has been arranged and give them the time and location for safety purposes.

It is also a good idea to arrange for a phone call about an hour into that first date (which should be in a place where a ringing or buzzing phone will not get you thrown out, i.e., no movies or concerts for the first date). Sometimes even if the date is not dangerous, it is a bore, and an incoming phone call provides a good excuse for calling the evening off, i.e., 'Hi John, really, my aunt is sick I have to leave I am so sorry, I will call you (as soon as Hell freezes over).'
