Ok, this is what I heard about CPR; no longer needed mouth to mouth resucitation, just pressing and pumping the person chest is good enough to save a life.
And this could be funny; you can do that pumping following Bee Gees's song beat, " Staying Alive".

Ccincy: That's a very good question regarding whether or not a homeless person dies differently.I've always wondered that myself.
I did mean apart from the obvious factors of being wet through and freezing to death.
I remember seeing a chap asleep in a shop doorway (one that wasn't used by the public) at about 10am one busy morning. He was entirely inside a sleeping bag, but just looked completely and worryingly rigid. It took me a while of trying-not-to-stare-but-staring-all-the-same to see that he was breathing. I'm guessing he was tensed up against the cold even in deep sleep.
Its a wonder there aren't bodies left, right and centre in the winter mornings.

It is sad to witness something like that.I've often been tempted to stop and ask them if they'd like a good hot cup of coffee or maybe even a bite to eat.
I realize I can't save the whole world but maybe just a little piece of it at least.

I didn't think I'd be thanked for waking him up. I imagine sleeping soundly doesn't often happen.

I don't really understand the question. Anyone who has undertaken basic first aid treatment training would offer help if the situation arose, regardless of who needed it.
There is no time for a background check if someone is in desperate need of first aid.

The cup of coffee or bite to eat will in many case be of no intrest, but making your little detour and asking the question can make someone's week.

I agree Maus about the coffee and food probably not being of interest but yes I totally agree just asking the question would make someones week.

CPR
You will have to kiss give mouth to mouth respiration (period) to the person IN NEED (with home or not home) I just hope you will not make any question to them, just give some air to them, so their brain will not die.
Gunter222: Hmm..........The protocol for CPR is no longer mouth to mouth in many jurisdictions.........do a search.
Lots of studies found that chest compressions without stopping for breath are more effective.
Sounds good to me because it also eliminates checking for and removing dentures before starting resuscitation.
It also prevents gastric insufflation and vomiting. I think people would thing think twice about mouth to mouth if they knew there was a good chance of the person vomiting into the rescuers mouth.

Sister! You nailed it. It's true that some people are germaphobic or scared they might catch something. They feel it is unsanitary or unsafe to risk themselves based on the homeless person's appearance.

not sure, but how would u know he's dying and homeless anyway? I'd call 000. Paramedics use a plastic thing and place it in the mouth, not without good reason...
