Anyway you mentioned a 3 month holiday visa, if you qualify for one you can work to keep yourself while you are there.

You have to be careful with that... you can't legally work with a holiday visa, if you get caught you'll be kicked out and never be able to return...

You can, depending on the work. A J1 visa allows around 3 months work and a period of 30 days for traveling after the work period.
