I'm not an "expert" in these matters, as many here purport to be, but I am extremely interested in current affairs and rather concerned of late in particular. However, my opinion is that WW111 will never occur.
No. Since I have been alive, we all have weathered the Cuban Missile crisis, Leonid Bresznevs build up of thousands of nukes, and U.S.- Soviet tensions that go with it. Syria is practically in a civil war as such, rather small, no escalation is needed or wanted.

I do not need to be a Nobel Prized to see that.
And so the retaliation inspires Israel to launch a nuke at Iran? Russia who is allied with Syria and Iran retaliates in kind binging their other ally China into the game and this isnt WWIII?
My Father had been waiting for WW3 since WW2. He believed that war was a natural part of human behaviour. Perhaps the existence of nuclear weapons has delayed another world war - for now...

Last time I knew the world was made up of many, many more countries and among them there are some that are "pacific" ones, besides.
WWIII will be like the Arab spring across the West. During which time Russia will come to dominate central and near asia, China will absorb the far east(and continue unabated in Africa), and the West will be in turmoil in a series of Nationalist uprisings against the Liberal elites.
Ethnocentrism is the only force that can oppose globalism and the old Liberal way of the Borg. Blood is thicker than water. The master will is greater than the plunderer will, the sword is victorious over money, money power is overthrown and abolished by blood in an age of Caesars. Cometh the hour, cometh the man.
1. There remains a small probability of the dramatic events in the Black Sea and in the Black Sea region. (Quatrain II-XXI)
2. There remains a significant probability of a major war in the Middle East, in the first place, with the participation of Syria, Israel and Palestine. (Quatrain III-XCVII)
3. The destruction of a great empire. This may be an “empire of the Arab countries,” the alliance of Iran, Syria, Turkey and the USA. (Quatrain III-XCVII)
4. There is a possibility of a global catastrophe with a large number of victims. (Quatrain I-X)
5. The fighting on land and on water, the center of the war – the Middle East, including Egypt is growing role of Islam. (Quatrain II-LXXXVI)
A major nuclear confrontation will occur in the Middle East. The aggressor will have broken a promise not to use nuclear weapons in warfare. Naval fleets kept in the area by other powers will be scattered in ruins from the violence of the blast.
Radioactive fallout will have adverse effects on people, animals, and weather; and erupting volcanoes will turn the water of that part of the ocean a muddy red color. Because of this, bodies will appear to float in blood. Because of the blasts and earth changes, rivers will change their course, and political boundary lines based on them will be redrawn.
The U.S. will have a Democratic president at the time. He will get involved with the conflict as a way of trying to stimulate the economy from a depression."
