I ran my old Vectra TD on special offer chip oil, about 60/40 Diesel to chip oil mix, had no issues, if anything the engine sounded quieter, mpg didn't seem to be affected, just fumes did smell like the local chipper, car was on worth a few hundred euro so it was worth the experiment, if i had access to free used oil from chippers then i would have filtered it and basically would have cut my fuel expenses by half.
Apparently more modern diesel engines are very finiky about their fuel and using chip oil would most likely cause huge engine damage but i believe that their is a kit that can be installed to make it work ok or else you could always just but biodiesel. Some day i'm going to experiment and see can i distill my own ethanol and adapt the cars fuel lines and whatever else is needed in order for it to be able to run on it ok, i think some of the SAAB's are flexifuel already.
Ah Biofuel... doesn't biofuel cause more environmental damage overall to make than traditional Petrol at the moement, per unit volume? And wasn't there a big spike in food prices a few years ago when the Americans started pushing Biofuel and huge amount of grain were bought up?

MacDonalds as a fast food chain, supply all the vehicles that deliver thier produce with biodiesel that they converted from used chip frying oil... A neighbour of mine tried the chip oil in his diesel and I DL information on how to clean it. A little know how and some equipment and it can be done...even for the fussier vehicles.
275k miles on her when i sold it, it wouldn't win a beauty contest but it would go forever. Shur wasn't the very 1st diesel engine, invented by Rudolph Diesel, designed to run solely on peanut oil, that's what i read anyway, it wasn't until the greedy oil companies got involved that the car makers changed the engines so they had to use their diesel, money talks.
I don't know about bio fuel but waht I do know is that 30% of fuel pumps don't give the right amount of fuel we pay for well acording to some fella on the radio, theres no way some of them are giving out what you pay for.

During the dawn of the 20th century, petrol and alcohol competed to be the future fuel.
People from the NSAI, look for the little sticker/label on the pump next time your filling up, it indicates that this pump was tested and was deemed to be accurate.
Dident know that, must keep an eye out for that sticker, I see hear around local that sole trader fuel pumps have all given up trading fuel due to the measures they have to add up to, or in other words forced to by regulations, make way for the the law of multi national corporations.
Biofuels can only make a small contribution to transport. However wood fuels can make a significant contribution to heating. In Ireland wind wave and wood will be the big ones in the future.
diesel liquid petroleum gas (LPG) compressed natural gas (CNG) ethers -- methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) produced from natural gas and butane electricity from coal/oil/gas and methanol produced from natural gas or coal,
How bout not taking garbage to the dump and building a high tech electricity generating plant. Use a few major cities potential garbage and if you can find a mining refinery on the outs talk to them.
