Needing a clean slate, I have taken paintings and picks off my walls, I need a minimalist palette to create art. This is a modern living to create art, not modern art.

Grayson Perry says that most modern art is crap and I tend to agree with him. His argument is that there has always been crap art about, but as time goes by the bad art is discarded leaving only the good stuff. Therefore "old" art seems better than "new" art simply because it has been passed through the filter of time.

I think Picasso demonstrated this best with his later works whereby his own volition everything he did was meaningless crap, yet the art world applauded it as genius.

Andy obviously anticipiated the autistic flavour and artistic deadness of our age, most probably because, in essence, he was these things.

as for my self I don't care much for modern art all though it dose look good in banks and office buildings I much prefer classical art such as ships mountains and people,,, but that's just me

I've heard that the Mona Lisa was a self-portrait, I'm not too convinced about it though. Information online says, Vermeer painted the posted painting in 1665.

... Whatever floats your boat, if you like it, so be it. If you dislike it, so be it. Nobody should dictate what is pleasing or 'artistic' to another individual. I for one dislike 'modern art' however some pieces do get my attention ...
