No, I have a realistic outlook. I didn't say we would have a collapse, just that I wouldn't be surprised with the way things are going.

You need to have a good supply of freeze-dried/dehydrated foods.
You need a water filter.
You need a back up generator.
You need a supply of meds/antiobiotics and essentials (toilet roll, clothes and anything else that keeps you relatively in comfort).
You need to plant a survival garden with non-GMO seeds.
You need guns and ammunition to protect you from the hoards of morons who didn't do the above.

I met someone on another site who was convinced we are going to collapse. He sent me many links and told me how he had prepared and wanted to come live with me and take care of me and mine. Of course, I didn't take him up on it, not wanting to use him, but just wanting to remain friends, until he started criticizing the way I write. So, I ended it, as quickly and nicely as I could.
However, it did make me think. Yet, I'm praying, as hard as I can, we will all be safe. For I think our government always has checks and balances to prevent that, don't you think?
I would like to know, if anyone thinks the same, if there are checks and balances in place? I also think the American people, ourselves would make sure that doesn't happen. Now, if we can get those lousy rich people out of congress and the senate, perhaps we would all be better off. For, I think they are trying to rid the world of the poor and the middle class, wanting all there is for themselves. Making sure the lower and middle class will just die off.
Yet, still, I remain hopeful. What are all your thoughts?

Countries and/or great empires are nothing more then lines on a map. They grow large and shrink to nothing eventually. All great empires have died,the states are no exception to that. That has nothing to do with conspiracy theories. It's just the natural order of things. Would the Romans ever have believed their great empire would die out? Would the Egyptians ever believed all that would be left of their great empire is old crumbling pyramids in the sand? No they would not and that is why people don't believe it now. It's human nature.

Wish some economists would then explain:- "How come our rand/dollar exchange rate is - R10 vs $1 US?" Yet, decades ago our currency strength was R2 = 1 UK pound!

Also if you take a developing nation, eg India...a decade ago their currency was 30 rupees = 1 US $
Now it is 60 rupees for 1 US $!
Does not make sense, currencies are being manipulated!

I had to google SHTF. Naturally, a big disaster could cause a collapse, but except this case, I still believe that the economy will stand.
There aren't really other options, since people prefer a bad paid job than to live like the survivalists propose.

I don't think you quite understand what SHTF means. Basically it's the death of the old in favor of new. No human civilization has ever been able to prevent it from happening.

No, we are(the West)is going to go back to the same mistakes we made before until it all blows up in our stupid faces.
In England the only region that's even begun to make the changes necessary - simply: boost in manufacturing and exports - is working class Northern England. The middle classes are still very much living with the credentialism/debt/makework that brought the Western world to its knees. I imagine that the rest of the West tells a similar - some improvement amongst the reality-literates with untroubled Liberal suburbia carrying on with more of the same child-murder and debt.
