As a profile w/o a pic I can only speak for myself. As for me, I don't have the equipment to upload a pic at present, working on that. Even at that, I like to get to know people for who they are before I consider being more than friends, much less dating someone. I understand men as a general rule are visual. I don't need a pic to decide if I would like to get to know someone more.
So, no a "pic" should not be a requirement, maybe it is your requirement, but don't "assume" it should be everyone's requirement. Besides with technology, what are the vast chances that a high percentage of pics put online are fake, altered, or aged at best.
I respect your position on this and I hope you will mine. My profile w/o a pic is a current choice of mine which will probably change in the future, but not because I'm concerned that no one will chat with me.

I don't believe it should be a requirement. However, for me...a pic would be essential and if one is not offered, I would request one within the first few messages.

I prefer to see a photo and I normally don't look at profiles without one. I have this noted on my profile.

No, it should not be required.
People come on here for different reasons, many simply enjoy the forums, or are just looking for friends, talk/email etc - these are all available options one can choose when they are setting up their profile.
For those who are here for dating and do not have a pic, that is their choice and those who aren't interested because of that won't contact them.

Well, I can relate if someone is Very attractive, and gets so many mails that they have to actually HIDE themselves... From being the main target
I can somewhat understand that....So I am looking from a different aspect
so are you saying I should look at the NO PICS, and Hopefully I may get Lucky??????

People are on this site for many reasons,not just for dating,although basically it IS a Dating Site.
I don't have any preconceived ideas about anyone, picture or not. What I can say is that I AM drawn to how people converse with others on the Forums.
It takes all sorts to make a world,and if you are interested in someone from what they have to say in the Forums,then check their profile, either they ARE looking, or they are just here for friendships.
You could be missing out on the love of your life if it's just looks that you are interested in,which in my personal opinion is a bit shallow. There is more to a person than just their looks surely.

I find it a bit odd that you can have a pic of your face, or no pic, but can't use a picture of your choice.

I too don't see why you can't have a picture other than of ones self.
Seems a bit daft that no physical picture is acceptable,but any other picture is not.

Because it's a dating website. Not flicr, or devianart. Also, having a picture up gives certain privileges... on the home page ONLY profiles with pics appear (8 of them),.. also when you click someone's profile, the other people in the same area also appear at the top and they are only profiles with pictures. And since we're on a dating website primarily, it's only fair that the leading photo is of that person.------ This poll is Archived ------
