Phoenix: “Men get more distinguished as they get older… women just get old.”
distinguished /d?'st??gw??t/ adjective
adjective: distinguished
1. very successful, authoritative, and commanding great respect
What is your income, Phoenix? Do you feel you are a figure of authority and command great respect?
I think that saying really refers to some very basics as in - males when younger have little to show for themselves usually. It's the start of their income bracket, no one really takes them very serious, while females when younger are usually considered more attractive, which relates to fertility levels and old instincts.
As a male grows older, he tends to earn more which makes him a better provider/raises his standing in the community, ergo raises his attractiveness level, while a female drops in fertility, thus dropping in attractiveness (although if you look younger, then no matter your actual age, you still get lusted after as the visuals activate the old instinct).
With females working and earning their own living, I think 'older males' have been losing ground a lot to younger males. Quite common now that older females pair up with younger males, not being interested in a male who is simmply.. well.. aging, more interested in just sitting on the couch and cultivating a beer belly. Not everyone is a Sean Connery who has gained in attractiveness over the years. He has a 'distinguished air' to him, but can't say every aging man I see can say the same, nor does every woman 'grow old' in the samw way either.

So women are only interested in a mans bank balance? Doesn't that mean when women, nubiles etc say, they are hoping to find their soul mate, are interested in peronalities and all those other non materialistic things are lying or are being economical with the truth. It's really how big a man's wallet is and how much bling they can lavish on their women?

I think there are still old instincts at play, same as they are for males. I mean look at evolution - the best hunters in the tribe surely had privileges to ensure they stayed fit so their talents could help the tribe, and females would have wished to share into those privileges, not just for their own sake, but also the sake of their potential young. Same time the top hunters would have had the pick of the females and more than likely would have chosen by what female seemed to be the best bet to make a suitable brood mate.
It is nasty cold science, not very romantic, but those I assume would have been survival basics, and evolution works on which mutations/choices made by creatures will prove the most beneficial. That is what continues on.
With growing self-awareness though, 'inner' individuality has grown too, which has begun to add another aspect to just the basic old instincts, so we are now looking for our 'soulmates', mates to also best fit our emotional and intellectual being. There is both now at play, and sometimes in starkt conflict even.
btw, please Phoenix don't ignore what else I said - we DO have the 'soulmate' part now too, which influences our choices too, it isn't all just about the old instincts anymore, but just look at you guys and how often the guys here post pics/vids or mention models and the like. No use pointing at females while saying 'you awfully shallow creatures, how can money/providing matter to you!' when males still very much activate to their own old instincts too >.>
I have never cared for money I only care for love, but sometimes I wish I WOULD just care for money, would make things considerably easier than just caring for love

There's 1 big bit missing... for the man to become more distinguished he needs to be acquiring assets and wealth every year he's older. If he doesn't... he's getting gold just like the woman will. (unless she's acquiring assets and fame aswell.)
