If you look at world demographics, it shows that the poorest countries have the largest families, so perhaps we just need to educate these regions better on how to reduce the number of babies and so save on food and water,
Better disciplined countries tend to limit children to one or two, by a natural decision rather than having a law as in China, hopefully within the next 50 years all countries will follow the one/two child rule voluntarily.

I'm not believer in the great apocalyptic theories being circulated today. Yes, global warming is for real - sea levels will rise. Overpopulation is for real - more famines will happen more frequently. But we don't know what the Earth's "carrying capacity" is for the human population. And Mother Nature has a way to deal with it.
But consider the hemorrhagic ebola virus, for which there is no cure. Suppose it were to get a foothold in a medium size city, anywhere in the world. With air travel the way it is today, it could very quickly spread around the world in a pandemic the likes of which we can't even fathom! First responders like Dr.'s and nurses would be hit hard first, and there is no way to isolate entire large populations.
This is not science fiction or that far-fetched.

Thing is, it's all there, in black and white, history, yet people still deny it, or turn a blind eye to it. Pick up a paper, turn on the TV or radio, log into the net, read a book, and it's all there, every day, all people have to do is open their eyes.
Most don't want to see it, or realise what some human beings are capable of once they're in a position of power. What laws can, and have been, passed to make sure we all follow along.
Hollywood, reality TV, fashion, sports, they're all much more important.

I do think we are plundering the Earth like never before. Palm oil, Gold, rainforests etc., this is having a dramatic effect on the climate of the poorer countries. I beieve we are so biologically washed [clothing/kitchen surfaces/hospitals ] that our natural immunity is going. Sugar is killing us with Cancer and Obesity and now it will soon be Govt. Policy not to keep eldery people [see EU papers this weekend] alive via tablets/medication if they have had a good life. ~ What I am saying is, the pharmacuetical companies have created a monster, people are living to be 90 and 100 and we can't afford it. Humans are eating Genitically modified food and drinking flouridated water,everything is full of Corn syrup/suctrose/sugar so we are being poisioned slowly whether we like it or not... living in a city is equeal to smoking 80cigs a day.
