Of course it is! And if someone loves you, they will want to be fair to you. It should come natural with genuine love. And it shouldn't be a chore or a duty. If one person is being fair and the other isn't, sooner or later there will be resentment and misery.

Couldn't agree with you more. But if you had to put your fairness in numbers , where do you stand?

My Ex and i always shared things 50/50 . She didnt drive so it was always me who did the driving , {no problem }
Now after the Divorce she has now gained a vehicle licence and bought a new car {great} .
But my new girlfriend doesnt drive ,although i still speak to my ex and she does favours for me , she refuses to pick me and my new girlfriend up from the Pub after a nite of fun together and go back to the girlfriends place .

jac379: What is all, or nothing?
What if I don't feel like talking, or feel like going off on my own for the day?
all or nothing means you respect each others feeling and if either of you need space fairness is helping each other forfill whatever needs they have if you feel you have to live in someones pocket that's not a relationship
Till now one person voted I don't care......... is that you give...you give....you give and you expect nothing back or you take.....you take.....you take and you give nothing back ?

I asked because I find people often speak in euphemisms and aren't precise, or definitive about what they mean.
People often seem to think equality is about treating everyone the same. If I made everyone a size 12 dress, I might be treating everyone the same, but I'm not treating everyone equally as only a few people would have a usable item of clothing. So what is fairness? What is 50/50?
I also think there is an illusion that if you put a number to something, it's somehow been quantified even if that number has been assigned subjectively, inconsistently and somewhat randomly.
minnieme2: Aim for 100/100 so if you want bigger! lol We're all human and slip up now and again so as long as we do our best to be fair as much as possible.
:-) No , being the first person on the poll , I thought you voted 100%, then you said 50/50 so my mistake. I do apologise

What does fairness mean in this context and what does that have to do with the video clip?
In this clip, the two monkeys performed identical tasks and got unequal awards which produced resentment. He then invokes it as an explanation for resentment at unequal awards for people who performed very different tasks of very different monetary values. This apparently agenda driven logic makes me very suspicious of this research.

The video is there to have some fun man. The fairness study is prespected to life not only in relationship. My poll is about relationship. Are you a more giving person or a taking person ? And if you want to , you can put that in numbers

It's specifically about fairness in rewards. That's a particular type of fairness. It's not terribly relevant to relationships. It's more relevant to the workplace.
What is fairness in a relationship? What sort of fairness are we talking about? Fair in what way?

Ccincy: When my son was little he would say "It's not fair". I'd answer back and tell him:Life isn't fair it just is so get over it.
When I hear adults say "It's not fair" it reminds of a ego wounded child saying it. Sorry to say it but that's how I see it.
So if someone were to say that it's not fair that their partner makes no financial, or other contribution to the household, that's because they have a wounded ego like a child? They should just get over it?
JeanKimberley: love in a relationship can't be measured in relationship because although it is thought to be shared it is really only felt by the single party.
The acts of love however, in my opinion are what leads to each in the relationship to feel the love.
It is a very complicated business for us humans.
So is the question are you giving your loved one a cucumber as a reward of love or a grape?
just re-read by post - and perhaps in human relationships I might prefer a cucumber.....

Sorry jac but but this fish isn't taking the bait.
