Typical Hypocrisy - If it had been said by a Professional Comic which ws where I and about 1500 others heard it, then it was and would be taken Humourously as intended.
BUT - As it was written by anyone other than a Pro it is unacceptable. Get a life !!

JeanKimberley: I don't understand why one's location in a country is related to one's religion? Of course, as an American, were we left England for religious freedom or to a country that separates church and state.
Well, actually I understand the philosophic point of view, I just don't agree with it.
As an Irish Catholic I could never be an Israeli citizen not that id want to be!
alexkhan: It should never be an issue of country before faith. Your political persuasion should have nothing to do with your religion, thats like saying if your catholic you should not be voting lib Dem!
There is no logic to your argument.
Just to clarify that last rather ludicrous statement; Debates by Catholics including within the Vatican questioned the temptations for Roman Catholics to vote as the religion represented a Kingdom and Kingdoms with Monarchs were held to be representative of the Kingdom Of Heaven with Christ as King. Voting in a liberal democracy was understood to be anti Monarchial and anti Catholic. The Kingdom of God was not a democracy or even a liberal one. No mobs ruled over Christ. The Vatican as a whole, in it's wisdom finally after much arguing and philosophizing finally gave in to allow Roman Catholics to vote. Some, either very conservative or those of the old Aristocracy refuse to lower themselves to the levels of the mob. They will not deign to vote for obvious reasoning. They barely recognize the modern set-up of countries that have, to them, excluded them from their inherent rights to govern simply based on birth. This i=must be extremely difficult for an outsider to understand, let alone comprehend. And so, the 'reluctance' remains to either participate or publicly acknowledge that ruling a former Catholic Country depends upon the moods of the lower classes or what is tantamount to mob rule. While our respective Kingdoms may be gone, our standards remain.

damshoppin: Don't get your logic on this, if I have it correct, winthrop seems to be saying that its legal to marry an 8 year old in the Yeman and you compare Catholic priests? Abusing children...way off the mark in my opinion..the priests are being taken to court and jailed...
Muhammed marry Aisha when she was 6 years old and consumed marriage when she was 9 so what moral values Muhammed followers showing us as God gift to our civilisation. To support, promote and normalise pedophilia without punishment.
Anyone can be a muslim, there is no legal definition of what it takes to be one, same with any religion. I can become a muslim in 30 seconds by simply saying 'I am a muslim'. Easy to do. I don't need to do anything else at all. I could also say 'I am a giraffe', as I self identify as one.
All of these labels are self applied, no one else has to recognise them, and no one can stop anyone applying one to themselves.
I just take the view that if something happened and all female fertility stopped today, then in 100 years time there would only be around 20 humans left on the entire planet, in different countries and with no means of travelling or communicating with each other. All beliefs, all opinions, all books, and all of history would vanish when the last human died. Yes, the entire human race, no matter how important we think we are, would vanish in 100 years.
What worries me is that the most votes are for no.
Is there really that many narrow minded tossers on here still.
You are born free to make your own choices in life. No matter where you were born, you have the right to choose which path you decide to take and what to believe.
Many British people follow different religions that were not founded in the UK , so what is the difference.
Your poll is misleading. British is a nationality and Muslim is a religion. If you ask me if I can be British and Pakistani the answer is probably yes. If you ask can you be Catholic and Muslim the answer is probably no. The British constitution protects the rights of all it's citizens to practice any religion they choose.

In todays world there is very little acceptance or defence for the prophets behaviour although this example is still practiced in some countries. It was common practice in the 600s. Fortunately the adoption of common law in most countries prevents child marriages as well as bigamy. Interestingly enough a recent case in Canada had Warren Jeffs at the superior court fighting charges of marrying multiple women one as young as twelve. His is an offshoot of the Mormon religion and his defence is that it is within his religious rights. He is now in jail for twenty years. Maybe he took a leaf out of the prophets book.
Redex: I have been interested in your question as to the facts and not to just how I feel. I find to be a muslim your father must be a muslim whether you go on to have ilsam as your religion is another matter. I still say in the main in Britain you can be what you want as long as you adhere to the laws of the land first. That would be anywhere in my opinion when in Rome and all of that. Good poll makes one think past the surface
That is not the case, 1 can embrace the religion of Islam even if 1s father is satan.
Of course you can be Muslim and British like me. If you can be an American Jew or Indian Christian then can be a British Muslim as well. Where do you want the indigenous British Muslim's who have no second home to go? Faith and nationality are two complete separate things. There are people of different faiths and nationalities working all over the world these days. Can't throw anyone out on the basis of their religious belief! It is an absurd even offensive thread!
In a supposedly Christian country it is okay to be British Hindu, British Sikh, British Buddhist, British Jew or British Atheist but not British Muslim??. Majority Muslim countries where million's of Non-Muslim's live can also ask the same question putting the shoe on the other foot. It is threads like these one's singling out one community that create intolerance in society. There would be forceful migration in billion's if countries started throwing it's minority communities out.
