Living in a VERY dry climate and drought year here in Northern California, we are threatened all the time by fire, it is normal here, which it shouldn't be.

Myself I have watched fires but have never had them threaten my home. When I was little we had a huge fire in front of our house, but our lovely firemen got it out, it did burn a few of our acres. But we never left the house.

Just 40 miles away they had evacuations in effect and 1200 acres so far have burned, 15% contained. We see these statistics every day. We resent electrical storms in the summer time, careless smokers, off road daredevils and plain idiots who decide they are going to mow their fields when there is a ban on it.

We are in the most severe drought since the 1970s it is scary right now.

I hope the majority of you never have to experience an evacuation or even a fire near you.

Sorry Hoolet that you've had to go through this.

We get fires on the mountains aomewhere just about every year in this part of the world, but it's just brush with enough rocky barriers that it doesn't reach the inhabited areas.

It's enough of an adrenalin rush seeing that. I can't imagine how frightening it must be living in a more vulnerble area.

I don't suppose you're thinking too much about your stuff at that point, however difficult it might be to lose everything.

I suppose there's a loss of identity though, if you lose your home and maybe precious things like photos and objects which belonged to other people.

I was working for my husband in 1977 in a railroad station. I not only smelled smoke but saw it in the attic of this 90 year old wooden building.

He ran outside to see what was happening and I called the fire department. In no time at all the building was engulfed in fire. We were never able to work in this historical building again and had to resort to other means.

I inhaled a lot of smoke and saw flames coming out of a building that we took for granted would always be there. Years later it was demolished, the tracks were taken up, the engines were sold and now a shopping center stands were the railroad that my father, husband, father-in-law and I worked at. sad

A natural reserve has burned, will need a certain time to be the same.

Besides 1.400 people evacuated, papers say.

Here's a bulletin issued by the town hall of the sequence of events. The planes are out this morning.

City Council Dénia
Forest fire at Les Rotes Denia

The heads of Government are quite optimistic about the extinguishing work tonight. The objective is to control the strength of the UME the fire perimeter , especially in Denia to Javea road and in the vicinity of Cape San Antonio .

Chronology of the fire :

16 hours. Forest fire in the Cape of Sant Antoni , which began in Jávea.

16.15 hours . Spend the town of Denia. Cortada Les Planes road up to the highway gully Monyo

17 hours. Helm shooting of Javea

17.31 hours. Dénia City Council suspends activities in the sports Joan Fuster and initiates preventive evacuation zones Lloma the Castanayar and Gerro Tower .

18.14 hours . They arrive at the first sports evicted residents .

18.28 hours. Begin moving the command post at Restaurante Mena. Les Rotes cut road from the junction with Les Plans to end.

18-19 hours. Red Cross has rescued 16 people from the Cova Tallà . Ten of them have been transferred to another six to Denia and Javea .

20 hours. 380 people at the end of Les Rotes Denia evicted ( from the junction of the road to Les Planes Mena and inner part) and have moved a total of 90 vehicles. It begins to evacuate the other side : Marge Roig , Punta Negra, Arenetes , etc.

20.40 hours mobilizes the UME . The eviction affects all residents of Les Rotes from crossing the road from Les Planes on.

At 2130 hours. Were evicted almost 1,000 people , many of them residents of Dénia , so have a residence in the town to stay. It has 200 servings of food and liquids to the sports center for displaced Joan Fuster. If further , just would take half an hour to be provided. By mediating the Hospitality Association , seniors will stay in the hotels in the city , which have been made ??available to the City of Dénia .

22.50. The fire is located in the ravine of Monyo . Only 26 people have gone to Joan Fuster. Is not excluded that go overnight.

Currently there are the following: a volunteer has suffered an anxiety attack and had to evacuate the area where I was working , it is the only "hurt " . There are only two houses directly affected by the flames. EMU work to prevent fire from crossing the road.
