So I did something similar with dancing, but here's another topic I'm curious about. I'd love to do Capoeira the most since the whole reason I do any dancing at all is because I can't find a teacher for it out here in Prescott. The whole dancing/martial arts mix is awesome to me. For fighting though I'd have to go with Jeet Kun Do (Bruce Lee's style) because of it's freedom to it (No Kata's just pure flowing power). Well vote and stuff.

I've studied many forms over the years. Shaolin was my first, and I loved the flow of it. I've also studied T'ang Su Do, Aikido, Judo, Jujitsu, Tae Kwan Do, and Tai Chi. Although I voted for Tae Kwan Do, for I would prefer to master it, at my age and with the limits my body has begun to impose on me due to not keeping it in enough use, I'll settle for Tai Chi. Much more my speed now.

Awesome thread, my friend!
I forgot about Shaolin! Makes me think of that show my dad would always watch, Kung Fu, lol.

Thanks Dru
You're not the first one to create a poll and be reminded that they forgot something in the list that was one of the biggies of it. No problem, buddy. And I loved Kung Fu!
Yeah, I used to sit and watch Kung Fu: The Legend Continues with him, but I never did see the original. I hear Bruce Lee helped make it and that he was supposed to be the star but got screwed out of it.
I took several styles of martial arts for years. Aikido is my favorite because it is the most applicable to daily life. It is all based on momentum....even playing with the cat I can use aikido.

Juijitsu is great. I don't see judo on your list.
Wing Chun Kung Fu is hilarious fun.
Unfortunately I could only do 10 choices. Maybe instead of JiuJitsu I should've put grappling to include Judo and the like? I'm not an expert myself. I just know I'd love to do Capoeira

Ah, i'm pretty good at the old Aikido, but the other type i was taught which isn't allowed by Japanese law now is Okinowa Karate.
This is for very good reason, it's only purpose is how to kill someone as fast as possible. It was pretty damn effective too.......Samurai had swords, everyone else was banned from carrying or owning a sword, which if i recall correctly was punishable by a summary death penalty if a sword was "discovered".
Thus this and other disciplines turned up, as a way to dispatch a very annoyed professional warrior with a sword coming towards you at a pace.
Any mugger that comes at me with a knife will lets say be in real trouble.

I've always thought shooting such an enemy a lot less physically intimidating than risking personal physical injury!

Yeah....it is as long as your out of arms reach.
It takes balls but if your within arms length i could remove the firearm from someone before they shot me.Or to be honest collapse a nerve in their wrist which makes the arm bend then pull the trigger for them, when the guns pointed at their own head.
We were shown this technique as it's......erm very useful....which is why we were there in the 1st place

My advice.....use the PSG1....far more accurate. The germans know how to make a good weapon.
Frankly anything with Heckler and Koch you cant go wrong with, well you can if you use them to stir soup or custard with, but there really good at shooting at things and hitting them as well.

We used a Heckler and Koch thingy as an attachment to SLR's when firing blanks - made the pathetic little blast of the blanks have enough 'oomff' to recock the weapon...but remember once having no blanks on exercise on Salisbury Plain and paras parachuted in (as they do) as enemy and we had to shout 'bang bang!' as they attacked our position.
The Paras were really scared at the 'Bang! Bangs!' and kicked a few heads as they strolled past ignoring the claims of 'You're dead, lie down please!'
