RainComeShine: I was brought up around boats but unless it's warm I quite like a bit of comfort on my travels.
Oh and the times I nearly bought a sporty motorbike too. I had a little one in my teens. I can recommend it!
Yeah....they're great eh....motorbikes. A man in leathers...
I used to get round on a motorbike on our farm when I was in my teens. I don't need anything too powerful but I would kill to go pillion on a big machine....now that would be fun.

Ha ha. My Ex husband had all those big bikes and still does. Everyone seems too frightened to go pillion but I found it addictive.
I truly miss the bikes more than I miss him but I have to admit he did look the business!!!
I just knew I was going to miss out something. I hate heights and my friend spent her air balloon trip nursing all the injured. She's a nurse and it had taken a really bad tumble.
He will build one for you if you like. Otherwise, the components are available online. The motor is a hub that fits into the rear wheel, around £99 depending on the power. The batteries around £30 each, you'll need two, and the control system around £25. The bike he converted runs on a 1kw motor, but that technically should be classed as a road vehicle and should be subject to vehicle regulations. But if you stay below 250W, there are no restrictions, but of course the max speed would be much lower.

would you be legally allowed to increase the speed manually?
If you can't tell from my photos, I just love my big touring Harley. I've had big bikes (and leather, hint hint) for many, many years. Even rode a Harley while stationed in Germany long ago. Toured all over Europe and later all over here in USA. Trying to figure out where I want to ride when I retire... 'Cuz ride I will.

It's easy to understand how you feel. These bikes get under your skin.

I hate wasting time and there are still things I can do whilst travelling by rail.
It's a shame we don't have those cute little compartments anymore. They were even more fun.
