MikeD. It's a bit too late to punish a man now for what he done years ago.. His victims should have pursued their case years ago when the wounds were fresh..

MikeD I'm not disagreeing with you.. But it's too late to act now with some of those involved.. But I wonder if justice will ever be served, afterall there was others who were not directly involved but are just as guilty knowing what was going on but didn't act on it!
MikeD12: I know what I think and that is an unqualified YES and all rights removed until he dies.
No, you make the sentence proportionate to the crime. Let's not forget we're talking about the busy hands of a dirty old man as reported by less than reliable witnesses and sentenced by a less than impartial court/public. It's not dousing girls in petrol and gang raping them like in the case of The Rotherham Evil where many of the ringleaders have received shorter sentences than Rolf Harris which is a mockery of justice.

Its shambolic that these so called "celebrities" were allowed to get away with theyre sickening acts at all,,,,i wonder how many people turned a blind eye to the activities of these scumbags at the time ? Rolf Harris should remain in prison for the rest of his days,no priveleges, solitary confinement...Let him THINK about what he has done and how many lives he has shattered with his vile actions....

In the wake of the song he allegedly wrote, it's apparent that he blames the victims of his crimes and doesn't take personal responsibility for them.
I don't believe in life without parole sentences, but I do believe in indefinite sentences for those who continue to be a risk to society, including children.
If he hasn't taken personal responsibility and doesn't understand the gravity of his crimes, he's likely to continue with this kind of behaviour.
I'd say, keep him in prison until he can demonstrate he's no longer a risk. However, I shan't cry if he chooses never to address his wrong doing, or dies in prison before being able to.

Jac. Indeed.. The damage was done years ago and the victims have lived with the mental scars all their adult life so you think by imprisoning the culprits & handing them financial compensation will ease the pain. No , the time to act was there & then , so what do you propose the authorities do?

They've already lived with the scars, so they don't deserve justice, or action will promote their healing?
The perpretrators deserve to be able to carry on abusing children with impunity because they've successfully been doing it for such a long time?
Are we talking about the same subject, All? In the same language? Are we even on the same planet?
I've already made my proposal above: indefinite imprisonment until the perpretrators acknowledge responsibility, acknowledge the damage they've done with their crimes and until they can demonstrate they're no longer a risk.

Jac. Fair point... But what the OP proposed is ridiculous . What baffles me is why the parents let their underage kid be unaccompanied & alone with these p*dophile in the first place.
First....I had to Google old Rolf to find out what he did - despicable and DEFINITELY in need of punishment!
To the OP - uh,...you have to choose.....23 hours of SC is just that....ain't no hard labour......in order for the sentence of hard labour to work.....you cannot be confined. How about the lash? Why not Capital punishment? You seem to wish an decry SEVERE punishment,...and YES,....I agree Rolf must be punished,.....and (and now brace yourselves) given an opportunity to seek rehabilitation,.....(and no....I ain't no softie.....)
Should it be a capital offence? No. His "victims" live....plain and simple....yes, what he did was unbelievably wrong, but it WAS NOT a capital offence (unless you turn him loose in GP in prison....that is a different style of justice)....I read the judges deliberations....he evidently had a hard time deliberating....I would not have wished to pass sentence.....but, based on his credentials, I would grant his sentence a QUALIFIED sentence. If you disagree, do not hammer me - file a civil suit of appeal....spend your time, rightly or wrongly, trying to deem him a dangerous offender.....
