saw some thing on the news, there is a program where all you have to do is say something and it will appear . don't like that, big brother could be listening. but that's all I heard about it.

TheresMyFriend: Has anyone installed the new upgrade to Windows10 yet? If so, what is your opinion so far? I haven't yet, till I get more info of it...!
My main computer is a Mac, but still have a new Gateway Laptop for any Windows related issues I come into. i.e. repair/setup for customer.

Blissfully unaware of what it's like .......I'm sticking with Windows 7

You are wise! 7 is by far superior! I am upgraded from whatever I have now....and 10 is a bit better,....but Gates is pushing hard for the touch-screen crowd.....hmmm,....that's Apple stuff.....I simply keep up so I I have justification to complain.....
Signed the old DOS guy who still can use Windows 3.1 and DOS

When I went from DOS to Windows 3.0 .... that was an enlightening experience ..... Then when I went from Win 3.1 to Win95... I installed and uninstalled Win95, and reverted back to 3.1 ... at least a dozen times before I made myself stay on 95.... then newer versions eventually came forward, and I favored the Win98 as the best (for me, anyway)... now we are up to Win10.... just have to see what kind of tech reports kick up, about it... Still waiting...

I've heard some nightmarish reports re. Windows 8/8.1 , I think that's what's convinced me to stay put . If it aint broke I say don't fix it
trouble is now they put new stuff on the market before they are tried and tested.....just poor workmanship....having to spend more money.....trying to fix.it...if thats possible...then they blame your computer....huh.

If it works for you, then that is the way to go... Myself, after working with Windows PC's for 40+years... Got tired (or burnt out) on all the issues... so I switched to Mac about 12 years ago, and have been happier for it... but still repair some PC's... for friends/customers... Stay with what you are comfortable with...

DOS is the foundation....Windows has always been the interface...I really "sit" in Linux,,,,,but that is another story. I agree....Win 95 was a GREAT move forward,.....Win 98 removed a few bugs....now it seems to be MS chasing Apple...

True... civilization was here before them, and will be here (hopefully) after them....

I'm favored to believe it's more like MS is stalking Apple, moving in for an attempted kill.
Microshaft does not like competition--remember Lindows? Remember the settlements in court over it?
MS goes out of their way to grab a slice of new pie anytime it hits the market, because their goal is to corner it.
And no, I won't be trying 10 anytime soon. I can bet a billion microchips that it's infested with serious bugs.

And lets not forget the possibilities of hundred of thousands of old/new virus... some of which I think MS developes to keep their other market flourishing... Tech Support. It's MS's vulnerability that keeps repair shops in business. *JMO*.... ~JOHN~
I've been reading, windows 10 is coming back with the start button instead of touch-screen, the free offer is good for a whole year, Wired on twitter said if we don't like it we can go back to the one before. I'll be installing it the 31st of this month on my 9 years old Sony Vaio laptop, but not yet on my new one.

I understand that if you have a qualifying system, that we get it free... but if we wait till that year is up... then it would cost us something like $119 (I think), otherwise it free to those deemed qualified... Have a good evening.... ~JOHN~

If you wait til the end of that year then Windows 10 home is $119
I'm going to wait til some of the bugs are fixed with W10. Microsoft makes it sound like W10 will be the final operating system, no need to go to W11 or on.
