IDK who keeps more secrets, but I think everyone is entitled to personal privacy. If you haven't lied about it and just want to keep it private, I don't see the problem. In this day and age personal privacy is not given the respect.....hence we are losing the ability to respect each other. Hearsay and gossip are just that and we are losing the ability to differentiate between it and facts.
No one is entitled to any information about me that I do not want to give
And online data sources are as liable as personal or real life sources and should be held to a higher standard....just my .02
Most profiles on here want Trust and honesty and yet I hear trust no one. If that's the case then there is NO future relationship.
Some information is best kept private as it will not damage a relationship between two people, but sometimes its better to be honesty to gain some trust.
It takes years to trust someone and destroyed in a matter of minutes.
As the op said men are more open than women....maybe but why have secrets. The skeletons can haunt you from the closet
i marvel at your wisdom ushguy4you, its just the fact that we all preach one thing and do the opposite, but the truth is to live a happy life and stay always happy is to always tell the truth no matter what, this is why internet friendship is increasing while real life friendship is decreasing, very sad, i just don't believe is secrecy for anything, i think people who keep secret are people who don't believe in themselves or has some cockroach in his/her cardboard.
What is the time frame for babbling out every detail of your life before an information-sharing oversight becomes a secret and just how much detail do you want? .
Giacomino: i hear so many people talking about keeping secret in a relationship/friendship but most guys are more open that of girls i don't know
Not everything has to be said, even within a relationship. If it does not affect your partner, and does not affect your relationship, do they need to be told everything?
We are all entitled to keep our own memories and sacred thoughts to ourselves. Not everything needs to be shared.
AM I the only person noticing a trend of which gender does what polls?
Are we building score cards?
Do I care if men or women on average do this or that more or less than each each other? Yes, if we're going to have a philososhy, or psychology discussion about why or how it came to be, but from a dating perspective? I don't care.
Lets call it what is is.
Are men or women better people?
From a dating perspective...I don't care.
I date women, individual women not the female gender. I don't date women because they're better people than men, and I'm not going to start dating men if we decide they're better people on average than women.
I don't enter into relationships with the collective,
I enter relationships with individuals.
So if we're not dicsussing the why one gender is more this or that.
Why are we discussing it?
Why are we trying to establish who's better?
What's sought to be gained by establishing one gender is superior to the other?
what's a secret??????? A piece of information you'd like to keep hidden. Nowadays, folks want to put everything in your face.......nobody knows how to keep one!!!!!!!

I don't totally agree.
Yes, social media has allowed some people to spill their soul's, and everybody else's souls secrets.
But some people still believe in integrity and the bonds of friendship. If somebody tells me something on confidence, I wouldn't betray it, even to my partner.

i'm not surprised that those you know are more open than those you don't. it's not a question of gender.
i think keeping things 'private' is a bit different than 'keeping secrets'. i'm big on 'keep your private life, private...and your public life, public'. keeping secrets within an intimate relationship can create barriers and mistrust.
