I'd give her 30 to 90 days in jail, and 400 hours of community service.
And not video editing/filming using her "skills" white privilege crap, I mean humility training...food shelter cleaning, trash collecting, serving the poor in an orange jumpsuit community service.
Makes me wonder where the "law and order" crowd has disappeared to off of here. He was clearly running from police, and it could be said she was simply assisting them in detaining him.
The kicking part, well, a bit over zealous perhaps, but I have to wonder what she's been through or exposed to in the whole. I can't imagine it's easy being a white woman behind the lens during all that's going on, considering the people she's filming.
Pardon me for not jumping on the bandwagon to condemn her, but that isn't to say I approve either. There's always more to a story than what meets the eye.

Giving Jail to the reporter is too much, I do not think jails do good to people yet jails are a must for top-criminals.
What I would have given the Reporter is community services, how many hours not sure now yet I would have requested the Reporter to live just one day among the Refugees as a Refugee.
No she shouldn't have tripped him but should she be jailed for it?
Of course not.
When a persons country is being invaded on a daily basis by illegals who have no right to be there sometimes people lash out in the heat of the moment.
lifeisadream: What I can see is that th TV company did not back her up eventhough that Tv station is anti-migrants, they fired her instead.
What has kicking someone to do with the people’s skin color? Had she being black would she have gotten away? Is that what you mean?
Perhaps she's a nutbar, and they were just looking for an excuse to get rid of her anyway. I have no idea, nothing has been said, at least not by her.
No, that's not what I meant.
I was saying that being a white woman, filming a tense situation among people from a different culture, religion, that don't appear to have respect for differing cultures, religions, and especially women, that she may have been exposed to more than has been said. Maybe she'd been through something that wasn't shown in any of the extremely short repeated clips, that could have caused her to lose her cool at the time when the cameras were turned on her.

kidatheart: ...I have to ask, were you there?
So, I should not comment on situations were I am not present? So, Do you ever comment on situations were you are not present???
This reporter has being prosecuted and I do find the option of giving her jail as unfair yet I do believe she deserves a consequence for her doing.
kidatheart: I have no idea what you mean, care to explain?
Hi Kidatheart
The women works in front of a lense, her job is very important to put out to the world, honesty and life as it happens. She clearly as many do in their work enviroments get stumbled,(excuse the pun) and suffered for her decision.
It has taken away the stilled moment of shocking frantic running of millions to flee their power imposed countries.
She could have used that moment of fleeing to challenge the world.

No disrespect to you, I may have put it wrong.

I also think it shows that those that are being let into host countries have little respect for the authorities, and as a result place themselves and those that they're accompanying into danger as a result.
Not saying what she did is "right", but I also won't condemn her from a short set of repetitive and narrated video clips. They obviously don't show the entire story, and I have yet to hear the rest, or her side.

Oh, and to answer the thread question, I don't know if she should have a custodial sentence, but I do think this apparent set of assaults and child abuses should be subject to appropriate legal procedure.

Were you the judge to rule this case which would your verdict be?
Thanks in advance!
