mcradloff: I do all my Christmas shopping on November 1. Total spent this year was around 170. I have 11 people on my list.
I don't shop now,, i give cash,, because if i buy something that they don't need/like,,, it's on the internet the next day ,,, for sale at a discounted price ,, well for me,, i shop anytime i need something,,X'mas is for offering to others as a tradition,,
Don't take the religious side of it,,, just the gaiety side,, we see happy faces in X'mas and up to New Year,, after it's the shortage,, we attack the left-overs,,,
I shop all year long buying small door prizes for a Christian social group I belong to. It's much more satisfying than buying specific gifts for people who don't really care.
I like to buy the most suitable present as possible for each person, very individualised, so if I see the perfect gift in August I get it.
I love buying gifts. Receiving them comes 2nd best.
Lovely i try to do the same but *mostly* more the young ones these days, it becomes sooooo Hard to buy gifts for those who have had mostly everything !.... but if the kids are happy i'm happy, thats all i need :)

Even people who have 'everything' often don't have that one thing you can get them.
I am very close to my friends and family, so listen to offcuff things they may say throughout the year about something they like/don't have, etc.

It is a year-long process
My family lives at the opposite polls of Nz.....so about the only time we see other is indeed Christmas..(mostly) so that theory, doesn't usually work for me

2intrigued: I don't have anyone other than my son and he's happy to get some cash so he can buy whatever he likes. Suits me just fine.
I don't shop anymore either. Years ago I started shopping in August but now my daughter and her husband have everything they need so I don't shop anymore.
Sometimes I shop for a homeless family if I see it advertised in the local newspaper

Shopping for a homeless family is a very kind gesture and it's a good feeling doing something like that for those who really need it. There's usually toy and clothing donation boxes set up at major department stores where you can place a new unwrapped toy or clothing item and they are distributed to people in need.
skippyguy: Hello there , !!!! Yes even canadian cash, it's very pretty i will take it off your hands for you
True dat...Canadian money is pretty and the new bills are made out of some sort of plastic with decorative windows in them. I was hoping you'd have some spare to send my way.
.....All i want to say is.......A..MERRY CHRISTMAS ,,to all my friends out there....where ever you may live.....and may all your secret wishes come true.......this is my wish....to you all...... pete.xxxxxxxxxxx.
