BuddyLegend: I'd have to say civilisation peaked with the development of the indoor bog and it's been downhill since.
The only way to change this in some kind of large scale war where people revert to oldensayer mentality whilst technology races on ahead in critical areas. Through war a people do not become spoilt by their own developments and what arises from this is a generation which is as great as it is grateful.

Pessimism about technology is itself a sign of being spoilt even tho it's a valid observation that it is spoling everyone. Technology was more or less a 100% gift to those who fought the wars of the past and those today living in the developing world(partly because they put it to better use and know what hunger feels liks). The weird irony about technology is that the more dependent on it you are the less appreciative of it you become.
Sometimes I think I would have been happier if lived in olden days...
Can't live without any kind of technology.
