It's just the TVs way gaining extra revenue from the public by charging high phone rates when asking people to vote for a particular candidate. A big con in my opinion

i think its a bit more than that, but you're not wrong either. i class these programs as 'entertainment by humiliation', i.e. the main purpose of these programs is to actually humiliate people in order to entertain the masses. its a disturbing development of the entertainment industry. is this the way we want to be entertained, is this what we call progression of our species?
